  1. May 2015 went drifting at Taupo, only difference since meremere was that I whacked in some T3 30mm RCA's which must have put a bit more tension on the castor arms as the auto steer was super responsive in comparison to the last outing, some new 165/55 xr611 nankangs in the back and also tightened up the handbrake. Unloaded in the morning running on 3 due to a dodgy injector wire, some GC with a soldering iron in his pocket came along to the rescue, drifted all morning till one of the wires came off it's lug for the efi relay solder guy to the rescue once again, skidded all day again till i chewed a drivers side brake hose due to rub on full lock drove down to repco 5 mins down the road to pick up two new ones, fitted and bled up then drifted for the rest of the day till I rain out of fuel. Since then I've managed to unlock 4.1 ratio locked centre on a nice sunday drive but have recently put in a 4.3 replacement. Going to enjoy a few more days this year then rip out the oem ecu, loom, intake mani and throw on my link g4 + ITBs for the new year and might expirment with my new 86 front susp and arms
  2. Digging up da dx graveyard, its been a while but not a lot has changed except for 2 different diffs later I finally got my hands on the right one. Solved the running problem turned out to be ecu after trying 4 more and retiming it 1000 times. Finally completed a full day at the track the corolla was there running till gates closed, despite dropping the t50 out and tackling a minor rebuild with Kurt and Todd on the day all the other cars had broken down before mine surprisingly. Pretty stoked on how it handles, just needs more caster for quicker switching but other than that it's pretty primo! Small clip by kurt: http://instagram.com/p/uryYioSGwm/?modal=true Looking forward to 2015 track days!
  3. Reading back on this makes me facepalm at myself. It's been a long time since this has been updated, I have now gone efi and t series trans and diff. Current rundown: AE92 smallport 4AG E! Ran on a bigport ECU TRD leads AE86 Rad TE71 GT fuel tank, lines and factory fuel pump 4-1 Japanese extractors Stupid full 2" exhaust with one res 20V Flywheel 22spline t50 2pc AE86 driveshaft Small Axle T series diff with a 1.5way LSD (will be replaced with 2way or locker asap) Unknown AE86 camber plates F: Early strut coilovers w/ 8kg springs T131 corona LCAs Knuckles by Todd R: 6kg BC springs Barina or Berlina GT Munroe Shocks Redline Panhard 13x8.5 -18 13x7.5 -7 Mk3's 175/60 A539s Bride Zeta 2 Nardi Classic 330m Summertime seat time on after the little to do list: Get it running properly (lol) More caster Wheel alignment
  4. Hopefully come for a yarn after work Kurt remember to bring my wheels!
  5. A girl called Lauren owns this, pretty sure it's still in her hands anyways. We've seen it a few times in person it's pretty tidy, wouldn't have a clue about how it's been driven though.
  6. Yeah somewhat I guess, it's just that they're poorly held in by gasket goo and the stuff seems to go all soft and weak when it gets hot, atleast this time none shot into the sky hahaha
  7. Technically it's not legal, but it's also not legal nor safe to have the car sitting on bumpstops? The only other options is to buy ultra low ones which maybe very experimental and hard to source. But if you do a good job you should be able to pass a warrant with no questions.
  8. Went to Todd's Meremere day on Sunday, was loads of fun (this is almost like a mini sequence) Big big thanks to Wes the GC for getting me there with a last minute midnight mission. The car was feeling really really good after unloading and going for my first run, I was confident to start throwing the car around more with the exhaust clearance and majorly reduced under steering issues with new alignment and dropping the front tyres to 28psi. The rears were cranked up to 48PSI which made a giant difference too. I had a big grin on my face after my first test run and I was sure it was going to be a good day. Things went downhill again stud by stud. Due to my ignorance to do things properly from the start I had managed to strip the some of the thread on the carb manifold so the studs werent holding the carbs properly causing vacuum leak. Despite finding nuts and bolts to fix the problem the injector port plugs started playing up again and there was a giant leak from there. Ending my day way before it even began once again. This barely stopped me from enjoying the rest of the day though, I'm really loving the grassroots atmosphere! Can't wait to get back out there and have my car last a full day. -Stan
  9. Thanks to AJ at Pitstop I finally got my exhaust done, it's all nicely tucked higher than my sills and most of the chassis rails Took AJ's new hoist's beach virginity (ended up doing the same thing next door at beaurepaires) Before LOL After -Replaced the Coby extractors for Japanese Aftermarket ones 4-1 to 2inch with 1 res. Still very loud! Thanks to Jaden at Beaurepaires for doing my alignment, before making my 10k trip home with my new exhaust! Very fun!
  10. Cool project man, I would recommend k series if you are after a easy fun cruiser but as Calum said I wouldn't waste time messing around with getting power figures out of them you are after something fast. If you are really after a rotary just for the sound, you can make a K series sound really awesome, with some sidedrafts or bike carbs, an aggressive cam and exhaust, it's a much smarter choice too on the pocket. I have had a 5k powered starlet, it definitely put a smile on my face driving to school everyday and all my mates loved it. Get some genuine japanese wheels, don't sell out into the misleading replica world. I would suggest 13's
  11. Glad you found your way on to here Neil car is looking so awesome! I love how you have just left the wheels how I sent them to you hahaha
  12. @bosozoku_gx71 plate was a mates, they used to be available on trademe, but I wouldn't have a clue where to score a pair now sorry. Ooooo interesting Ryan, do let me know!
  13. maximum-style.tumblr.com Got some longer bolts to hold the carbs to the manifold this time with washers and threadlocker to prevent them coming out again. 2013: This year I am planning to focus it on driving, and getting my car as reliable as possible with available funds ($0.50) T series drivetrain, brakes need attention (this is going to be the difficult part with the ke70 struts) and I also want to build a smallport engine alongside.
  14. That's really really good to hear, thank you. Look forward to seeing that!
  15. Thanks kpr! yeah I need to be way more aggressive, I was trying to conserve the drivetrain for the day but funnily enough it was other things that ended it for me hahaha. Was quite intimidated too with the high profile/skilled drivers there. Didn't get any sorry Callum, next time though!
  16. First ever drift/track day yesterday. I was only just getting the feel of the car as it was only my second time driving it ever with the new engine. It would seem to run out of gear and begin to grip really fast, I couldn't figure out how to get the handbrake going either. But just lots of minor problems occurred throughout the day, including overheating, injector port plugs shooting off twice and losing some studs holding the carbs to the manifold which ended my day. Didn't get as much track time as I would have liked and giving away more seat time than I got myself wasn't too smart. But overall pretty happy with how it all turned out, suspension felt good, knuckles were awesome, didn't feel any axle tramp, and surprisingly didn't blow any of the drivetrain. Now to get the carbs all secured, get a good tune, wider steerers, alignment and get back out there! Thanks to all that have helped to get it out there on the day. Merry Christmas all!
  17. great stuff, great driving too!
  18. Royce you winner, I've heard some speculation about you letting this go soon?
  19. Haha cheers bros, Ahh next time Kurt! Yeah and not many if any Dave. Exhaust is still under a finger height off the ground. But the bent sill rails are just 55mm so I can't be bothered measuring anything lower cause I can't fit my hand under it.
  20. Bit of an update, lockers in, threw in some 8kg jamex springs, and borrowing my mates 6kg HSD rears, and Todd got my knuckles done. Kurt came around and we mucked with the timing, so it's abit more advanced now. Took it out for my first ever drive and was just purely stoked. (TURN SOUND UP!)
  21. I wouldn't be so harsh on your driving abilities, it's more the car than anything at the moment, looks ultra hard to drive. Axle tramp was just ridiculous and also the motor didn't seem to be too happy either. You should check your axles again you might have twisted them cause I remember seeing your wheels go all over the show when you were just rolling. Top effort though!
  22. Haha I promised whoever wired up my car a first drive, so it's okay with me seeing I will have plenty of time slaying it
  23. Mounted up exhaust with some wire bahahaha, this is as high as it can go, it's right up against the floor. So next stop is pitstop for an exhaust tuck. Kurt took it down for it's first drive down the road and back was so stoked. Do mind my excitement "yeHbOI"
