mad_max
Just had 4k in my wagon shit itself so picked up a cheap 3k to put in. Got all in there and everything seems to be in in order except when i start it its leaking gas out of the fuel line going into carb, i tightened it thinking it was lose but no change, its leaking out reasonably quick and im wondering if theres enough getting into cylinder. Wont fire at all? Any ideas? In Otaki if anyone passing through or from local that could help In my eyes it should go... Need help asap as is my daily
coldturkey
I know it doesnt seem like much help but you should probably fix the leak
mad_max
Yea, I am now, just dont think thats the problem, should atleast fire
coldturkey
its possible that due to the leak, there isnt enough pressure for the fuel to get into the cylinders, or the other possibility is that the leak was initially caused due to the carb being blocked. phtmbl
Disconnect the fuel pump, so no fuel comming from tank. Get some engine start ( lynx or flyspray will also work ) spray down the carb and try and start. if it runs it the carb if it doesnt, start looking at spark

mad_max
Fixed gas leak with a bit of thread tape and gasket glue, worked mint. But its not sparking at all. I put plug next to block and couldnt see spark (got a mate coming to give me a hand) bit hard to tell with 1 person. Have no clue y it could be wired wrong as i left everything in it when put other engine in

mad_max
So put lead from coil straight to plug and do the same thing?
mjrstar
^^no. Remove dizzy cap, turn key on and use a screwdriver to open the points, there should be a spark there if you have power. then work towards the coil if no spark work back towards ignition power feed. mad_max
Nothing coming from coil... Unsure what it could be, wired up exactly the same as it came off
mad_max
Anyone got a clear wiring diagram or photo of coil/wiring. must be something in there
mad_max
Tried a different coil but nothing coming out of that either. Still trying to find a wiring diagram good enough (all blurry and hard to read)

mad_max
No sadly, coil wasnt the problem. Anyone know how hot the resistor next to the coil should get? Just noticed it got extremely hot (untouchable and could feel heat radiating off it) Not sure if theyre meant to get hot as ive never noticed. ??? BlownCorona
resistors jobs are to get hot, but ive honestly never felt what they get to when running, i do know that they can fuck out and cause these kinda issues, something similar happened with my car and i just threw another coil + resistor and it was all good again. also was wondering since when did Josh downgrade his rx7 to a k series, then realised its just the same avatar
