M_C
Great looking car! Who runs the Classic Trials? Was the bolt in half cage to make it easier to comply for the road? Cheers
mfordy
Thanks M_C. Busting to get it finished but unfortunately still got to fund a motor/diff etc. Who runs the Classic Trials? Check out the link below. Works like dial your own at drag racing where you pick a lap time and your penalised if you go slower/faster. http://www.clublotus.org.nz/classictrial/ I was a bit dubious when I first heard about it but it's still competitive and the guys racing don't like getting passed. Was the bolt in half cage to make it easier to comply for the road?Cheers Yip. Will be out when I get the car certified but still easy enough to bolt in for race days. Hoop and stays all built to current MNZ standard so can add rest of cage later if I want to get serious Thanks

Cheers, email sent to them. Seems like a very short list on entries for their recent events.
mfordy
Seems like a very short list on entries for their recent events. Yeah numbers were down for the first round compared to last year. Not sure if weather put a lot a people off because it was crap. Are you intending to run your Mk1? If so, I think you might have some eligiblity problems as cars are intended to have period mods only. I think they might frown upon v6 power, toyota 5 speed and hilux lsd but you never know.. Good luck
Josh027
Looks awesome! Can't wait to see the progress. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the respray cost?

Looks like I will be able to run in their relaxed events, but not the strict TACCCOC ones like on Nov 04. I won't be ready in time for the next one this weekend so will have to wait to the new year. Busting to get out there but as you no doubt know, it's serious coin to build a quick pushrod these days so will be a few months yet

KKtrips
Still looking tops.. Is the rollcage a removable item? How much of a pain is it to get in and out?
mfordy
Is the rollcage a removable item? How much of a pain is it to get in and out? Just got to remove the front seats and bolt it in - shouldn't take too long. Will be out for cert and WOF's, back in for skids.

mfordy
Looking good what did you do to your engine? We are going for another track time at Hampton downs on the 30th twilight should be fun if your keen? Brought it second hand from a guy in hamilton, Spent a fair bit of time tidying it up and sorting a few issues - goes ok but will be building another engine shortly with a bit more hp. Would love to be at Hampton with you guys but unfortunately still missing a diff, brake lines, linkages, fuel pump.....sigh.
shaneo
I would say there will still be a couple more this year. Seems to be a monthly thing so far.My engine is a second hand as well. What diff are you going to go for with the five speed 4.1 or a 3.9? I run a 3.9 on a four speed and think its magic have had a 3.5 in before good for a cruise but not so good for down low. 4.4 is just trouble lol
mfordy
4.4 is just trouble lol Haha 4.4 for me. Got one lined up but don't want to fit it until I sort a LSD
shaneo
4.4 there is loads of pick up in those an LSD is on my list as well but it has to wait for now
Guest M_C
Nice haul of pressies. Where to the links run that you bought? What is the kit? I read an article in Retro Ford that was impresed with an "A Frame" set up, but Burton's don't list it. The "A Frame" links run from the front spring hangers to just either side of the bottom of the diff head. Not sure if they have another name? Looking at your cage, do the backstay's go close enough to the bend on the main tube? I thought they needed to be closer?
