dave123456789
Hey guys, i decided to start a topic here since my buy thread is turning into a tech thread. I have removed the 4 bolts that attach the drive shaft to the diff but no matter how high or low i jack the rear end i cant seem to be able to remove it as the bolts still stick through to the diff. There must be an easier way, ive been trying shit for the last hour or so. Thanks
Unclejake
Photo? Are you jacking from the body or the diff housing?
JoKer
slide it into/towards the gearbox a tad? should be a half inch or so of room to moove, get drip pan read as oil wil come out the back of the box etc if your removing whole drive shaft from there back etc
Beaver
you should be able to take out the bolts no? (sorry for silly statement, but yeh, you should be abel to remove the bolts and it will drop off)
dave123456789
I dont see how the bolts can come out, I tried that first but they dont budge even when hitting with a hammer. Have tried to slide towards gearbox also but it wont move that way either. I originally jacked from body then once that didnt work chucked the jack under the diff and raise it and all it did was get a little more lose
Beaver
interesting. I suspect a photo or two would help if possible

Borgweiser
yes, just hit all of it repeatedly, jack diff so you can rotate it whilst smashing.. or get a chisel in there
Hemi
yes, just hit all of it repeatedly, jack diff so you can rotate it whilst smashing..or get a chisel in there this , just make sure you are not under it when doing so , taking a diff to the nose/face / elbowskin is not pleasant
dave123456789
Such a cunty job to do when all I want is a working speedo I think ive moved it a bit, was way too hard to swing a hammer properly but sticking a couple of flat heads seems to be slowly working. Got a sore back from lying on gravel so will try again in a bit.
Unclejake
Have you tried running the speedo cable with an electric drill and watching the dial? You will be well slutted if your problem does not require the tailshaft housing to be removed.
