xsspeed
The 4.0 litre inline six-cylinder engine was upgraded to aid refinement and increase power to 157 kilowatts (211 hp) this included the removal of the distributor as it was replaced with a coil-pack ignition system which was a first for the Falcon You may have had an el? they went back to a similar setup as the ED with a dizzy for the el. Visually the engine bays between ef and el loko quite similar - the plastic intake manifold over the rocker cover is the only obvious difference when looking at the engine bay/bonnet up
shizzl
nah,was an ef..original motor..possibly the last of the f's though...it was a gli... even my old bosses ef xr6 had a dizzy, cos i changed it when it died
xsspeed
I know the coil packs used to be problematic, so perhaps it was common to remove them and replace with a dizzy - if that's possible
Valiant
EF1 had a coil pack under the back of the intake, EF2 switched back to a distributor. Either way they aren't much help as the timing is computer controlled on all models from EA.

shizzl
found you a manifold too....you can run either a webber or even a 350cfm/500cfm holley 2barrel with this.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 767526.htm
wickmyster
Ok cool, thanks, are there any better flowing manifolds, that looks like the angles are very sharp and not very good for flow?!?
shizzl
no unless you go for a aftermarket 4 barrel manifold out of aussie..about $650... they actually flow allright..enough for a 2 barrel anyway
sentra
oh yeah if your intrested, i have a xf motor laying here thats been rebuilt, sweet cam, bored, new pistons, line bored, balanced, new oil pump fuel pump, recoed / re jetted carb, i used it for 3 months in my boat then fuel leaked on the distributer and the distributer burnt out. it also has a super ugly/rooted valve cover and some random old marine parts on it. wickmyster
Ohk, I'll keep that in mnind, I know those motors quite well, (the carbed verion is higher compression than the fuel injected one) not many people know that and so do up the fuel injected ones. wickmyster
Yeah, but if you where after economy, you wouldn't do up a a falcon six, you'd leave it standard and nana it around, plus, my carbied xf 6 did over 32 MPG, my efi only did 28MPG, both stock standard to start with ;D Plus my carbied one ate my efi one in performance, but I have not tried the muiltipoint one out for economy.
