My name is Russell
Want to get turrets fitted before cage goes in so cage can go to them and the front strut towers, planning on chopping out the parcel tray etc to fit them. Anyways, anyone got the dimmensions for folding one up? otherwise have to choose between these two which seem a bit pricy for a box. http://www.burtonpower.com/rd218a.html http://www.palmside.co.nz/product_pcid_15278.html Over n out
My name is Russell
I guess the measurement really depends on how long the shocks are that I'm going to use and ideally needs to be taken with the car at rideheight and should be when the shock's half way through it's stroke. So mab require them first.

My name is Russell
They only reason im doing it is for coilover, my leaves are two soft as have been reset to much. drtdvl
GAZ have a decent name in the UK - a lot of the 205 and 306 guys use them in their fast road /occasional track day cars.
My name is Russell
Yeah GAZ is good, tis whats is in the front and back of escort at the moment rear leaves just require aditional support. cracked the 10mm low profile bump stops in half from the leaves being to soft. My name is Russell
the escort not being lowered 5 inches would probably help also but meh.
My name is Russell
Guess the next question is what LB springs to run
peteretep
You can get extra leaves added to your leaf springs to make them stiffer you know
My name is Russell
yeah you would have to add a truckload of leaves as they are inverted at the mo, would rather do turrets for weight, adjustability, performance? and have them tied into cage while at it. Never even crossed my mind to do it untill i raced it and realised they were smidge to soft. dont get any axle tramp however so happy with that
Gaz
Buy them direct from GAZ as its WAY cheaper. Cant member where but they give a 10% discount to someone here, Hit up Zep, he put me onto it. For escort they have two types listed also, will see if I can dig up old emails to Gaz. So I take it this means your going 4/5 link? mkcortina
For that sort of stuff i find rally design to be cheaper and the same thing. I think RD supply Burton with a few items http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=609_681_684&products_id=4315
kpr
make your own? i just used 4" exhaust tube in kp, and 5" in my trueno. hole saw, weld, done. get coil overs then make turret length to suit them
Bling
Genius what thickness is the exhaust tubing?
kpr
not sure, just standard size. 1.6mm? is thicker than what the car is made from anyway. cut to similar shape as the ones in link, so have large area to weld to. used 3mm for top plate. kp i run a spherical bearing in the top plate. ae85 just normal bolt in s13 coilover should be pics in project threads VVVV
My name is Russell
Anyone got any idea how long and dia spring this requires?
Valiant
Just been buying springs for my Anglia. 65mm id seems the most common diameter, lengthes 200,250,300, may be 350 and 400 mm too. Check with your supplier first as some rates/sizes are harder to find. Yes exhaust tube makes mint turrets.
kpr
easyest way, is to buy your suspension of choice first. then make turrets to fit it. need to buy spring length to suit your shock length. and yeh 65mm id seems to be most common.
Gaz
I have seen one some race cars people mounting the top of the shock/strut onto the rollcage itself. Have you thought about this as it would be strong as. Plus then strength of turret is irrelevant. Gaz
