Mr.Mk1
My old man has a 3.5 Rover V8 for sale, comes with gearbox - about $800 i think he wanted. PM me if u want more info.
BigDave
Not for me sorry mate, too much bulkhrad chopping required for Escort fit. They go well in AC type kit cars though, he would do well to advertise in them kinds of circles??
Jerm
oh really .. yeha i heard the rover alloy V8's are very light and good..... those extractors on the tango are interesting... whats the advantage of having them "up and over"? is it just so you can fit the large diameter pipe?..... why did you choose to go NA? to avoid ECU etc? how did it go compared to a turbs cossie? yeah i really want to try and rebuild an engine as soon as i have some time and money.... going to start easy though on a 1300 or 1600 x-flow .... did you just refer to a manual or what? was it your first rebuild? Guest miss_ae111
wow bigdave ur mk2 is absolutely perfect! its mint. talk about attention to detail!!!!!
BigDave
Cheers matey, no details on the car as yet, more has gone into the Mk1, but cheers for the comments. Jerm, I never actaully built the engine mate. I bought the car as a bit of a project and the motor was built by a NA specialist called Wayne Riggar, he drag races a 250 brake NA Anglia by the way. What I did was just strip the car down and rebuilt it all right. The woring was a mess, it had no breather, a poor extractor and exhaust set up, lts really, it just needed putting right. NA cossie motors are used purly for their reving ability and power right from the off, it was 230 brake that one by the way. Tango also did a 0-60mph drag sprint in 5.01 seconds with wheels spinning in all gears!! The manifolds I fitted were purly for better extraction, it makes it easier to use larger bores and also get each length equal to keep the engine running at optimum levels. Oh yeah, they also look mint!! CheeRS
Jerm
fuck thats fast.... can we get those engines over here?..... what do they come in? or are they sierras cossies with the turbs just removed? Cheers
Jerm
got any 1/4 mile times?
trunk-rattlin
wtf is up with people not editting their last posts??
BigDave
What needs editing like?? More than just removing the Turbo Jerm mate, the head needs to be fully reworked as a normal YB head is deigned for forced induction with Injection and ECU etc... It costs about 4000 pounds to make a reasonable one up also!!
Jerm
interesting.... yeah i knew it would take alot of work to convert a turbo engine to NA ... but i was kinda meaning can you get the NA cossie standard in any cars? ... i guess not
BigDave
Nope, unless of course you mean BDA, BDG etc... These were made with help from Cosworth so could come into your question??
