escortpat
Cheers for that guys will check these places out. Diff wise was gona use an xf fairmont disc rear end with v8 lsd an axles. Was told that they have different axle lengths from side to side, so to take the short axle an put it on the long side an that would work out to be the right length an then just shortern the long axle to suit. This way would be the cheapest an easiest. That has been scrapt now as today i was informed to just go 2wd hilux deisel with a 3.8 ratio an it would be the right witdh an bullit proof. What you reckon?????
Gaz
Hilux has mega big axles but will 100% need shortening which costs about $1000 if done properly. Plus the diff will cost ya round $500 for an LSD version. Falcon is cheaper and still pretty tough, think the utes had the LSD?. Will be able to get more suitable diff ratios too. Id think youd want lower end of 3.* I think what your informant meant about coon diffs was to use two short side axles and shorten one side of the housing to suit? Minimal work and no machining needed. Gaz

Gaz
Id say you need to start at the beginning and get your head around everything yourself rather than from what other people tell you. Do some research and do things because it is the right thing for YOU to do and suits YOUR cars use etc. Better going into things fully knowing what your trying to do/achieve rather than doing it because so and so has done it etc. Jus my 5c. zep
Do you have the means and/or the cash? This is a pretty involved project that could end up costing a fair wack of cash.

Leebo3
Try a few hot rod forums too for more info, prob not the handling side of things though because they dont care about that aspect But yeah, a falcon wagon pre 72/XA have LSD's, so raise the rear and simply have the 12 slots sticking out the sides.
