Non going 7AGTE

I have been through that thread from start to finish a few times.

I started reading it back when he started this build (is when I had my GZE)

It does start but burbles and hisses and farts. So timing mustn't be too far up the shit.

Will have to inspect the cam wheels and crank key way.

Many thanks for those who have contributed so far :D

You need to find a dry place to work and get the cam covers off to observe what the valves are doing at TDC. My guess (if the info you have is valid) is that one bank of them will be open.

It does not sound like the TDC mark on the crank pulley should be trusted so you will need to check TDC by observing the piston.

If these motors have the spark plugs between the cams then that is easy with a bit of rod and a dial gauge/felt pen

Is Rory's one, damn good buying really. +1 for cam timing, though I dont know why he wouldnt have given that a lash before flicking it so cheap

  • 2 weeks later...

I knew I was close :D

new set of plugs and it fired up rather angrily!

Still seem to have cam's slightly out of whack as it doesnt quite respond to throttle very well.

FUCK I'M CHUFFED.

Some fiddling on saturday and I reckon I'll have it going!

Sounds so angry though, most hecktic *age sound I've heard.

FUCK YES

Sweet man, good to hear make sure you have everything correct before beating on it

Maybe an idea to see if you can get it run up on a dyno to make sure the a/f's are all good as well

Got the standard cam wheels, lined everything up, chucked adjustables back in.

Really quick at getting it apart and back together now :D

Whipped dizzy in using a mirror to see where everything thing is.

Seem to have it in right now, just need a serial equipped laptop to hook up to the ecu so I can set the timing without it interfering.
