Hey guys.

I'm looking at taking this route with the front brakes in my capri..

When raizer speaks of using the bmw discs will i need to redrill them to fit my hubs other than the other machining reqired? Will i also be able to fit these and use the volvo calipers. Ie will the diameter of the disk be to big and foul etc?

Sorry for noob questions just wanna do it right the first time.

Cheers, Matt

mines this set up, re drill to fit hubs as stated, then also if i remember correctly the center hole of the disc needs to be machined out, and my hub needed a slight machine,

its in my build up viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8627&start=0

and with the calipers mine dont foul, but i did split the caliper and took bout 2mm out of the middle to suit the thinner disc,

Instead of machining the hub down you can get 2mm machined off the hub face of the rotor (as in the thread I posted) to clear the tie rod end, but either way will work fine.

The discs are the perfect size for the Volvo calipers just as htwn-escort-boy said there a little thinner than the stock Volvo discs (I think he meant the Volvo ones?) which isn't a problem at all.

You shouldn't need spacers unless you have calipers from a Volvo with solid discs (are there Volvo's with solid discs? lol)

The stock master's are all good, Capri's/Cortinas(3/4/5 at least)/Escorts and Sierras all use the same masters.

S3 LandRover masters are a good upgrade too though.

i think its e21 323i vented rotors you need, heres some info, dont know if itll help, found the other day whilst looking at the same conversion for E21s.

On the last link did you all see the other hole for the TCA's above the standard one?

This is common for racing so it is drilled to give the right camber for a particular track.

Also the TCA's are what looks to be a Burton or copy of theirs.

I'm trying to get the legallities sorted on TCA modification at the moment as I noticed the capri/escort ones are nearly at ball joint binding when in the standard holes when lowered heaps.

I will post soon.

Cant weld yourself or have any welded parts on suspension/styeering linkages. ... but then it will also depend on if your cert guy cares/sees they are modded. Rack extensions are the legal way to do it which is what I did.

The local cert guy is fine with it BUT your parts have to be fully crack tested and Xrayed etc.

The thing is guys, I got a set of capri struts off of treggo but the stub axle is nearly 50mm closer to the ball joint......So if I run them with my current springs the ball joints bind :? so I'm looking at modifying the original Cortina arms and then getting some made up.

Also the capri arms bring my wheels in nearly 50mm which means I would have to run 75mm spacers :( and thats not cool.

I'm in quite a spot between the suspension and the induction system at the moment LOL

Gaz did you notice also the difference in stub axle angles between the Cortina and the Capri/Escort struts.

Sorry for being off topic.

Also I am sorting out a diferent brake conversion with 4 pot Hilux Surf callipers cause they are cheap and only have one brake pipe conection. I will post when I have it sorted and will supply the part numbers also.
