I got the car in its present state, the body is full of rust, mainly in the floor section

with out major dollars spent on a body rebuild the shell is other wise useless, at least this way it gets some use :)

thanks for the posts

Well said. I have thrown or given away a couple of two door Mk1 Cortinas in the last six years beacuse they were too poked.

How "full of rust" is it exactly? There are engine bay pics, interior pics, a pic of inside the boot ? and a couple of the body and I can't even see any real rust holes. Doesn't seem to bad.

At the end of the day its your car and you choose to do as you please with it but it does pain me a little to see a pretty straight looking old car getting that treatment.

Hey guys

the spare wheel well is basically non exisistant, plus the rest of the boot looks like swiss cheese

the floor has lots of small holes, plus the chassis members and sills are very rusty plus lots of dents from rocks etc

it was a paddock racer for about 8 years before i owned it and ive had it for almost 6 now.

ive pretty much rebuilt all the running gear, has a locked diff in the back with overrider on the springs plus springs arround the shocks. As far as i can tell its a cortina 4 speed with floor shift, with a 1300 escort motor. Just recently went over motor and replaced a cracked head with a ported one, the bottom end has 20thou pistons and a hot cam, and its running a 1600 32/36 with ported manifold matched to the head, and standard escort sport extractors through a small muffler and out the side.

Cars are build and meant to be driven, this one get driven like any car should, as hard as it can. and then i fix it so it can keep going. the true meaning of a car :)

thanks for the interest, glad to see so many people passionate about the cars

thanks :)
