Gaz
Just run no bumpies.. I got cert without em in escort. Then your certifier wasn't doing his job, they aren't optional. Possiably. He is a harsh cunt on everything else so was surprised he didnt call them up. Ended up putting them in a few months later as axle was hitting body on large bumps on open road. Also Pies.. Repco have a huge book with all sorts of engine mounts and bumpstops etc in it. Pics and all.
Guest vvega
you can cert your car to not have bumpstops..... thats teh point of the lvv plenty of cars that dont have or use them ...liek anything double wishbone...well almost anything
spanners
Without being a cock about it shouldnt you get it re-vinned as a standard car then mod it from there? I mean once its certed once you can do heaps of shit that WOF people wont pull you up on. Just seems like you will mack it out now and then get to a point where you have to undo things (which sux ass) when it comes to cert-oclock. I guess with an engine conversion in the pipeline you might need to re-cert it at a later date which would make this post, and therefore my entire life, absolutely meaningless. *slits wrists* For the record I think it should be cutting fucking trenches in the road with its chassis. I like em low
spanners
Oh and plus we all fully wanna see this thing done to completion. I guess the definition of that word depends on your plans for it but I sure as hell want to see it road legal and driving!!!!!
pies
problem with getting it re-vinned then modding is that alot of things have to be pulled apart to get it to vin standard, and i figured, while its apart, i might aswell just mod it. But that all might change once i get a good look at it. For now, im just going to pull bits off and clean em up, look for potential problems, see how much work actually needs to be done. Im almost tempted to take it to a vtnz place and get it checked, but thats a waste of money when i can probably get a hold of the checklist and check over it myself

Mr dori
hey pies ive got the same set up, ive taken mine out for the moment, as my shocks have bumpstops in them, That big matel thing the bumpstop is bolted too is the spring mount, you can drill the factory spot weld off and remove that cone thing, probly wana keep the steel where the spring sits tho. you should have enough travel just need mega stiff springs and shocks.. id flag that bumpstop they will never know
Guest vvega
you can cert your car to not have bumpstops..... thats teh point of the lvvplenty of cars that dont have or use them ...liek anything double wishbone...well almost anything As I said, not optional. You don't need to retain the factory ones and could for example fit them to your shocks instead (depending on the car) but you do have to have them. Callum sorry mate i took my info from the hot rod bible..... it was a asumption that lvv would follow that as well.. but then thats for scratch built
eke_zetec_RWD
still applies for scratch builts.
drftnmaz
drill the spot welds out... then cut and weld cone then paint to look pretty and weld back in... thats what i did and then it looks like factory and not like theres any load on the welds holding it in just on the cone structure ones and why you wouldnt want a bumpstop is beyound me... if the spring snaps or something crazy then u'd be stuck IN the road
