W8NSEE
Hey guys does anyone know of any replacement rotors for a escort that are larger in diameter to suit the austin princess calliper? I know the vented capri item fits, but im intrested in other options. I have also heard that you can use 3.3 vauxhall victor rotors but they are hard to come across now
Gaz
BMW have a disc that is commanly converted over. Nothing as straight forward as the capri disc tho. Although the capri disc is no larger dia than the mk2 sport disc.

Unclejake
The Aussies are right into fitting Volvo rotors and calipers but I am not certain what model or if they are bigger than the 245mm rotors you are currently thinking about.
Raizer
what bmw rotor out of interest?E30 323iAt least thats what the brits use with Volvo calipers
Sparkle
yup yup, wouldnt have to be 323i as all e30 discs other than m3 are the same size im pretty sure. Easy to come by and plenty of options!

Snoozin
Those Volvo 200 series calipers are monstrous beasts as well.
durty
yup, they massive, also if getting 200 series, try and get the girling versions not the ATE. they got better surface area etc.
W8NSEE
All of this has to fit behind a 13" wheel too. So yea i want a diameter disc that is close to the size of the princess calliper and the right offset, i can do all the rest of the engineering myself. The other difference i have is that i am running no booster in my setup. Cheers for the help so far guys
Gaz
Why dont you run the escort or capri vented disc?
W8NSEE
the standard disc is too small to take advantage of the full surface area of the pads, and i dont see the point in going the vented route when im never going to use the brakes to that level. I mean ill be hard pushed to cook a solid rotor i think
Gaz
The vented disc isnt any larger anyhow. Try the calipers with your standard escort discs. You will be surprised how well they work. The extra tad a larger dis is going to do wont do jack./
sholdowa
Just been out playing with a mates 1300 mk.1 sport. The brakes are far, far better than my forester turbo. These are the standard servoed brakes, nothing more. I've got venteds for mine when I get it back on the road, and 9 inch drums for the back, so they'll be better again I hope. I reckon you're gonna need a lot of rubber on the road to make use of brakes better than the best ford replacements you can get.
CaMpylobacter
must be someting hellishly wrong with your forester!
sholdowa
must be someting hellishly wrong with your forester! Trevor Crowe didn't think so... but then he did sell it to me. Brakes are good on the forester - you just have to press hard to stop fast. But the Escort brakes are really, really good. You just have so much confidence in them. CaMpylobacter
dang. of the handful of escorts I've driven in anger I've never been impressed eh. couple have had 4pots and shiz. hmm
sholdowa
Says a lot for these princess calipers... Pistons do seize easy, and you often end up only using one without realising. I used to take the pads out monthly and work the pistons with a tyre lever for a bit to be sure. M16 calipers, with good pads and a decent, unglazed disk work as well as anything with 205/60x13 or smaller. Vented disks help. The worst brake fade I ever experienced was in the Swiss Alps in my delta integrale. I had to stop for 10 minutes - although I was being extremely silly at the time. That never happened when rallying (cheap!) escorts 25 years ago.
