Ogre
Right, i wonna remove them. Has anyone done this on here?, seems pretty easy. Ive talked to a number of engine rebuilders/race guys and they all say its a good thing to do but none are to sure how you do it proparly. So yeah, ive found these sites which seems to be the easiest to follow. One uses a "kit", the other is modding original fitment. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/balance-shafts.html http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/balanceshaft.html chur
Raizer
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/balance-shafts.html I havnt done it personly, but from what iv read/seen/been told the best way is with the mirage parts as in that link

rxtoy
try pm'ing rallitubby on the lancer register. i know he's done it to the rally car he crews, he gave me a run down on what to do but it was ages ago and i've forgotten. he's got a garage in hamilton too, might be worth going and seeing him. he knows quite a bit about the early 4G63's. cheers Matt

Ogre
that kit is just what im getting except it cheaper than $42 US, and just cutting off the balance chaft is kinda gay as it fucks the bearing in the oil pump, that = not good yo
lowlancer
Half the point of taking them out is to gain oil pressure too, haha. I've read 5-10hp just from taking them out. Depends how well built the motor is from factory I reckon it's all shit
Ogre
i can see how you get the gain from less rotating mass in the engine, kinda the same as lightening the flywheel i guess, im more doing it for the throttle responce and free reving
lowlancer
The main advantage in my eyes would be a couple less things to go wrong. One of those sheers off and takes out your cambelt, you'd be fucked
CaMpylobacter
they go noticabley better.... old man's comin' to drop dsome shit off to me at work this morning no doubt so I'll hit him up regarding his when he does. note that it was 15 years ago though so he might be a tad vague. but yuh. they go better. bros 4g63 ute used to have a definite lurch in power @ 3500rpm, went hard as, revved into redline easily, that had no balance shafts, y'know?
