flipped my leafs but not level!

how much do you guys lower your escorts by and do u have pics? pm me if anyone has any info and recommendations on this.

im putting 17's on with pumped guards and want it as low as i can... but dont want it rubbing with 5 people in it etc. does adding a leaf actually stiffen it any more then normal or does it just make up for the lost tention by the leaves when they get reset? chur

I take it you have a mk2 in which case disreguard what is said above as that is mk1 only.

You still will need to drastically pump/flair mk2 guards to sit real low with 17s however.

wheres a place that resets leafs close to kapiti coast />? kinda in thew middle of palmy and wellies

Welly will def have a place that does them. Palmy most prob also do. Try ringing an engineer and ask them as they would know.

it looks awesome though so I can deal with the rubbing

be carefull when it bites the guard as you turn. Eventually it will tear your guard and then your fuct. Mine did!

it shouldnt ever tear it as my gaurds are rolled so it only rubs, ie not catching on anything

Sweet, mine were rolled and lipped but again i have 15s not 13s so slightly larger.

yea theres masses of room under the front guards- they were easy to pump and theres still possibly room for more aswell from what i can see.

as for the back tho, they were wide enough to clear my 13x7 hotties with 205/60s when it was absolutely sacked to the ground. BUT its the inner guard thats the killer. i dont know whether its possible to modify the inner guard in any way except for tubs. but i think flaring wont give me any benefits as they are at least 1.5 inches wider then they were, if not 2".

but as it has been mentioned, when it does rub at the back, its rubbing on smooth metal so its not going to cut up the tyre. im thinking that to go much lower is impossible without major work to the inner guards ie. tubs. i cant see the front being to much of a problem except the inside of the tyre rubbing on the inside of the guard near the strut. hmmmm

if u wanna be a dodgy cunt and lower leafs on the cheap... why not just leave a couple of leafs out??? just use common sence to determine which ones to leave in there... but yea for $220 why not just do it properly?

and mk2_escort.... you can always cut the inner guard (skin) and wack it upwards make the shape you want/need then re-weld it to put strength back in :twisted:

to put 205s on my mk1 i had to get the gaurds pumped out like 20mm and it dont rub always sits closer on the left tho strange old ford thing anyway but it dsont rub at all now and looks mean and its about 3 inchs lower

would look sick 3" lower. are the 205's on front or back or both?

blocks are useless tho. i only had 1.5" blocks and with 4 guys in the car it would still rub on bumps and on corners if i went fast. thats y im taking them out and reseting them and adding a leaf so it should be much stiffer

That is also what i am doing. It wont make it %100 better but will slightly fix it.

Also bending the leaf the other way will cause fatigue way quicker which will lead to mechanical failure of the leaf.
yeah thats what happened to mates car snapped the main leaf just down abit from the eye. was on a big launch and punched the broken end thru the boot floor :lol:
