  3. reliability of a 4age is so much better then that of a pinto. and as anyone who plays with cars knows cheaper is not usually better.
  4. the sump wont need to be modified unless you want the engine right at the very back of the engine bay. also depending on small or big port will depend on fit. os peeps just be hating on the 4age since ages ago. but in all seriousness just put a 4age in it auh.
  5. put a 4age into it. if your not going turbo it should be easy with no tunnel mods and alot less sump/oil pick up modification. smallport would be the go and even putting in a hydraulic clutch isnt that hard. 4ages go great rev like there's no tomorrow and well 4age inside is where its at. ive got a bluetop sitting in the shed with a rwd intake on it thats up for sale. if you tilt the engine on a ever so slight lean towards the passengers side and redrill and drop the brake master cylinder bracket it will clear everything easy. wiring for them even with the standard ecu isnt that bad and you can pick up easy to wire in looms off trademe for cheap. so many things you can do to get easy extra power out of them and theres always the option of turbocharging later on with ze internals.
  6. actually if he hasnt completed any conversion now if i did my car again id go 12a bridgy no torque so standy diff will hold up. a good one with even a sidey will blow a pinto into the weeds. s1 rx7 boxes are cheap as shit. mounting is easy. no efi to worry about. and just get a shitter engine off tardme. be sweet for a club car that probably wont see huge kms. get it tuned right and the worst it should do is wear out then just take it to rotamax for decent rebuild. meh.
  7. hell yeah ripped it up hard. hows taupo go with stock rad? hotty hotty like when i went? does go well sideways. also get it right car is a gt coupe not gt-r as has no power windows or power steering.
  8. the biggest problem with moving them in is that to combat the exta body roll you need to run harder springs making the car more unstable over bumps etc.
  9. the further inward you run the shocks the less the actual spring rate at the wheel so the more body roll you would have for a given sway bar etc. i would run a watts linkage as then you can adjust you roll centre by moving the linkage centre pivot point. which should enable you to tune the back end of the car to a set up you like. ideally the axle pin point for the shocks/springs should be as far outward as possible.
  10. 2.8i vented capri rotors. get from palmside + austin princess calipers + spacer kit (again from palmside) thats fronts all bolt on shit easy as rear i used ae92 fx-gt rear brakes. but that was on my hilux

  13. i fucken told gaz that 250hp atw was possible with efi pinto turbo and 248kw atw is more then that still hmmmmm makes me wonder if the 4agte was a good idea after all oh well next time
  14. yay for minilites with mmm dish sweet churbo manifold from when i was gonna do pinto turbo. will use this in later project ..... so then i did some shopping and new seats stripping out more interior as good as the new seats are unfortunately they arent quite noob proof as trial fitting shows

Exscuse the story but background reading rules: So here i was somewhere around 2 years ago when i joined os contemplating pulling my mk1 escort off the road for the full on rebuild with 6 link and adj susp and 200hp xflow and shit and i was going to need a daily driver. so i thought how about a escort wagon they look sweet. i knew of where there was one that could be had for cheap so after a very short time saving i went out and bought it. initial plans were to use it as a daily so i thought id rebuild the 1300 with my 1100 pistons stick my mild cam and webber on it with a set of my extractors a sierra box for economy dump it on some minilites with a home job paintjob and some sounds. cheap and easy and a sweet daily. insert workmate whos been f#$king with cars for years. just put a pinto in it ffs 200hp is way easier out of a pinto and the boss has got a couple of sc-14s upstairs you could get one for cheap and supercharge it for a real easy 200hp. me = i wanna keep the mk1 x-flow but the wagon could get a pinto... so anyways bought the blower and while reasearching shit on manifolds etc and talking about hp the idea i could maybe have 250hp out of the blown pinto made me quite excited. and maybe a lil hp hungry so then it was suggested that it would be "easier" to turbo efi the pinto and possibly cheaper for the same hp... yeah right everyone here said hard to do real expensive etc so i thought fuck it as id decided i wanted 250 hp that was that id use a diff engine at this point alistar made like 190kwatw out of a 4agte and that was that i had to have one 18psi and anitlag and xternal sounds fucken sweet. anyways i have to scan in the pics from before i started pulling it apart but we started like this poos arse 1300 out poos arse 4spd escort box out empty escort engine bay http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3830 ... db65a9.jpg sweet lowering springs starting to pull interior apart

So i needed to ditch the cragars and get some sweet rolling jdm stz rims. and then some 15x6.5 long champ xr4's popped up for sale so i snatched them up pic of car at 86 meet 08 Future plans include. swap in my f series irs subrframe with new nolothane bushes throughout. sort a 4.3 ratio and a lsd centre for my f series head trd 8kg springs ae92 shocks up front and trd 6kg springs and trd ae86 i think shocks out the back get some wider longchamps for some sweet stretch maybe repaint factory colour fit my twin headlight front trd head gasket and replace pooey valve guides.

    carb turbo setup

    cant see why it wouldnt work with falcon etc. but for simple as install id just use a full starion loom and sensors and ecu. starion turbo etc. / sigma / 2l turbo ex lancer. get fuels old setup when he goes twincam.

    trans tunnel mods

    meh 10a is ftw for different factor hence why i wanna keep 1600 in my mk1. and just go get a clutch m/c and cut approprite size holes and mount it. all u gotta work out is how much travel u need for a 95% m/c stroke. then find the point along the clutch pedal that moves this much when u push the clutch in. next u make a bracket that can pivot to fit ur m/c pushrod to and hey presto eski hydraulic clutch just did one on my mk2. use a ae86 m/c just coz toyota shit is ftw and because they have a thread on the pushrod that allows for adjustment.

    if you're a turbo noob just run a draw through carby turbo setup with a 2 inch su. will be all good. once you've decided its not enough grunt just go grab a mitsi tbi setup and run that intercooled it would be much easier to just make a adapter plate then to fuck around with injector bosses and new manifolds and shit.

    just run a draw through setup with a 2inch su carb on like a standy bfmr turbo or something. will be all good and run a oil line to it water lines are overrated. just make a crossover pipe. so would be mean.
