Gaz
Chrome on hot exhaust manifolds is kinda dumb actually. It doesnt even stay chrome it goes purple almost the first time its used. Stupid idea. After bout 6months of use it will look ugly and want a hearty exhaust wraping but meh.
kyteler
There's a product called JetHot, don't know where to get it in NZ but it's basically just a heat resistant coating and it's apparently awesome. You can get it in a range of colours. http://www.jet-hot.com.au/ The aussie website.

Gaz
It last for ages as in it doesnt come off. However it changes colour and starts to look ugly after a while. It goes kinda purpilish blue. Also before you put them on and heat them for the first time you wanna clean them with Iso or sumthng otherwise ya fingerprints burn into them leaving a fingerprint mark forever in darkish purple/blue
Chrome_GT
I've currently got 4-1 extractors fitted. I also have a spare set of 4-2-1's. As i don't drive at high revs often I'll be swapping them. I recommend 4-2-1s
Gaz
If its for a pinto then 4-2-1 would be the go as they are not high reving engines. Its not unill expensive/real power mods are done to the pinto that it actaually needs to rev.
