need to enlarge tunnel, it has different mounts, need to move the gearstick hole back, have driveshaft shortened or use a automatic driveshaft, get a new clutch/flywheel assembly, need 5 speed starter motor and not too sure about the speedo cable and reversing cable, probably something else i missed

Well there ya go auto does fit.

Well i thought i had an auto shaft but maybe not. I used the front half from the sierra and back half from escort. Got it shortened too. So its 2 peice with a rubber donut.

I want to goto 1 peice and am going to use hillman as they are large.

To get a new d/shaft made up and balanced is about 300$ aslong as you have two usable yokes. The way to do it is stick them in a lathe and cut of the old pipe off the yokes so that it is all square and true. Then weld a new pipe over the lips of the yokes. If anyone wanted to know.

Theres been a few topics started on this before, should have searched.. anyway...

Yep the auto shaft fits, (also speaking from experience) but that was on a sedan, not sure about a panelvan..

-Gearbox will fit in the original transmission tunnel after abit of hammer use, oh and you'll need to cut the original mounts out becuase the box wont fit past them...

-mounts need to be relocated about 3 inches further back, so you'll need to modify to suit (I just used the wider Sierra x-member and bolted it through the floor with some plates to strengthen it up, passed cert no probs)

- move gearstick hole back

- use Seirra clutch/flywheel assembly. Not sure weather the flywheel is a straight bolt up fit or not, checked on my old x-flow and it was, but yea other people have had probs..

-Escort speedo cable will reach (just)

-Use the escort reverse light switch (straight swap)

-For the starter motor you can either use a 4 spd mk4/5 Cortina one or the Sierra one.

Oh true? nah theyre not that big actually aye, theyre stainless steel about 3mm thick and about 150mm x 50mm (under the carpet). The cert guy didnt really say much about it :? just said everything looked real tidy, and yea..

How big did he say yours had to be? did he lift the carpet to check them out and everything?
