Guest orange_mini
wrong replacement stuff? loose wire? you seem to buy a lot of cars. has the LTSA got a hold of you saying you can't sell any more and if you do you will have to get an LMVD number? 510WGN
There's the problem! You've got to set the points with the correct gap when the arm is up on the top of the lobe. If there's no gap or the gap doesn't close then the coil won't work.
lowlancer
In the dizzy you mean? If so, then yes you do need to set them up. Check the wire from the dizzy to the ignition coil, mine always falls off and it prevents it from starting
Guest osolowesky
ummmm nah, me and my dad sorta put thm under each others names so its all good, I put all th old gear back and and still nuffing aye
Defcon
As 510wgn said, you need to set the gap on the point correctly or else they wont trigger the coil. You need a feeler guage to set them, one of the esky fiends on here can probably help you with the right gap setting. Def'
lowlancer
Well as it's for an EX, esky homos probably can't but that fuel nut will know the timing for an EX, what engine is it?
Defcon
Ahh oops, to used to reading about those bloody ford donks. Correction : One of the ex fiends on here can probably help you with the right gap setting. def'
esky boi
Yea the points have to be gapped properly or it will either not start, or run like shit.. also make sure you've put the leads back in the right order, its easy to mix them up and that would prevent it from starting too... CaMpylobacter
yeah fully, get a ford gap the points mang, as they've said - no gap, no spark.
rxtoy
i always used to just gap them wide because (don't know if this is all 4G32's but mine did) the points always used to slip closed anyway (couple of months running). it'll run like this so worth it just to check and you can gap the points later if you care enough. other things to check, gap on spark plugs (i've knocked them closed installing them before), leads in right order (your dizzy cap should have the numbers imprinted on it, if not ask on here and somebody can check), got fuel (might be some sort of airlock in the line from when you changed the fuel filter??) best way to find if the problem is spark is remove spark plug, put back in lead, hold a cm or so from the block, crank engine and you should see a spark. try for all 4 leads then get back to us if you haven't got it sorted by then. all i can think of right now, simple engines though, not much that can go wrong unless you've been messing with timing and shit. cheers Matt

Hair drier maybe a safer option if your ham fisted.
