two_days_late
yea the 1100 manuals came out with single piece, but the 1300 and 1600 came out with two piece shafts, according to mr haynes anyway. might check in the book and see what the auto ones came out with. could always get an auto two piece and take the UV joint off and swap it onto my manual one. have to get the driveshaft shortened then tho. cheers Matt

Why put a Pinto 4speed in tho?

RT
the 1600 close ratio box from a Capri is great in an escort!

atropine
well 4th gear is the same in em all so top speed doesnt really matter when choosing between em

peteretep
but i want to keep the xlfow flywheel, i dont want to use the pinto one at all, using a 5 speed seems like very hard work
Guest escort_boy
not that hard if u use a sierra clutch, fly wheel etc etc
esky boi
Yeah, Pinto flywheels are lighter than Xflow ones anyway.. so you wouldnt be losing out on anything
Guest kris
Pinto flywheel will not go on a Xflow. Sure the bolts line up, but you then can't get a starter that will work with it - at least not that I know of.
davidian
yeah i think the sierra starter turns out about 10mm short of engaging with the sierra flywheel, from memory, could be wrong tho. just use ya xflow fly and re drill it, i think only 2 or 3 threaded holes need to be put in and a couple of extra dowells to hold the pressure plate. pretty basic with the right skills yo. two_days_late
i think youll need a differnt backplate too, because the starters in a differnt place? you could just scrap the backplate but prob not a good idea. cheers Matt
Guest escort_boy
Get a backplate from a Pinto powered Cortina. This will need to be modified as the rear crank seal housing is much larger on the kent engine. So simply cut out around the center until it fits your engine. This is the easiest and therefore the best solution. thats what kris's web site says
