Leebo3
My mates have got a ke70 corrolla with a 4K in it and it doesnt want to start. The starter motor is stuffed so we are push starting it. When you put it into 2nd then release the clutch it sort of starts. The noise it makes is like an engine brake on a truck - real weird. It has spark and the carb seems to be giving fuel. When the throtle is applied it doesnt do anything. Put the clutch in and it dies. Help PLEASE!
lowlancer
Make sure all electric stuff is connected, make sure coil is sweet, check leads. I know you said it had sprak but check anyway Just check all electric shit, cos I know the sound you're talking bout, same as what I had
Bistro
Same happened to mates Mini. No matter how much we push started it it just wouldn't go. Turned out to be a naffed coil. So check that as even though it may have spark it could be irregular and/or too weak. Tryed engine start? Try pushing it faster too...or pull it... Guest lotus legend
im thinking more likely to be the coil as its been sitting in the paddock for a few months now

AE25
could you have flooded it? maybe pull plugs and make sure they arent wet or fouled. why not fix starter? 3 things you need are compression, spark and fuel if theres a wire coming off the carb make sure it has 12v going to it as it's a fuel cut solenoid. Ned
make all the clips bigger/smaller for the leads (which ever aplies) and re-fit the buggers. also check that the fireing order is sweet. bypass the (whats it called) resistor if you want a better spark. just check everything, vaccum hose, leads, coil, engine earth cable (just listing all the shit my 4k had problems with) if you took of any manifolds or anything make sure you replaced the gaskets however good they might look! check the timing with a timing light... spark plug gaps?
