Mr.Mk1
BAAAAAACCCCK to the leaks topic, I took a 'mental health' day off skool and pulled the scort 2 bits again (gettin good now!) 2 investigate the soaking carpet issue. Tore the console, carpet, glove box, flexi heater pipes, instruments n all shit so I could get a good look in, then undid the heater hoses in the engine bay, unscrewed the heater unit and pulled it out, ripped up all the fucked out sound deadening n found the source - rust hole in the back of the heater plenum I believe, kinda ran outta time 2 make sure. Luckily, my parts car came from central otago and has been nun-dry its whole life, stole the sound deadening from it 2 go into greenscort 2morro! Ill get sum pix so uz can c if its ur problem 2. Guest WESTCORT
i had rust holes in my sills of my car, not in the door, so the water ran down and through the holkes and then on to the footwell, so i just that fixed and it still leaks cause it comes out of the bottom of my door sumhow and over the door rubber..... im not sure how ill solve this just yet
Pushrod
ahhhh leaks something dear to the heart of every oldschool car owner I know this sounds obvious but alot of people miss it on escorts they are really prone to rust in the firewall region among other places even a small hole may cause major leaks I once had a Mk1 Cortina that leaked so bad when it rained water would leak out of the dash board but a nice new rubber fixed that up quick smart
trunk-rattlin
i must be lucky to only have a small leak in the boot its easy to see where its coming from tho! theres like a 1inch ripped segment missing. meh, ill fix it oneday

Mr.Mk1
Also concluded... where heater bubble meets firewall at bottom most point - 2mm gap! Glad I found the mofo before I got angry and gave up. Toucan
before I got angry and gave up Lol know how that feels... I had my engine out and I was sitting in the engine bay for about an hour pulling at the heater hoses going into the firewall, they werent coming out, so I gave up and just covered them in silicone hoping they werent going to leak. Hope they dont

Mr.Mk1
I get rub on the front left at full lock, but its either the chassis or the like, def not the actual guard.
zep
Yeah, your tyres must be far too big if they rub up the front.
jaymz
yeah make sure you use valvemasters or upper cylinder oil the iddiot who owned my car before me didn't so i ended up with burnt valves. ALL OF THEM!!!!.
Pushrod
I was running 175/65/14 on my old MK2 escort and I had no probs at all with rubbing on my front spoiler What size tyres are you running?

peteretep
u might need to get your gaurds rolled if they rub, thats what happened to me with my 205's before i had it rolled
Jerm
i have 205/60/13s on the front and its all gravy....
Guest WESTCORT
ive got 185/70/13's maybe 70 is too high in my case?
Toucan
Your 70's would be just as high as Jerms 60's... I'd check things like your alignment and your guards first, are you sure its rubbing and that its rubbing where you think it is?
