bummer! if the justice system was fair you should be allowed to smash both of their teeth in with that piston.

yeah its a cool conversion a friend has already done it before and it worked really well, i still have photos of his mounts ect looked rather simple. they go well for what they are, wheres the thread on your ute mate I've been waiting awhile?
-
well it is all legal after a few minor things like park lights and a indicator and getting horn to work but……. since then it has developed a massive oil leak from the back of the head and is now smoking! So as I'm not to fussed on pissing around much more with these old carby engines I have found a mx5 motor and bellhousing and am going to do the swap for fuel injection life. may as well as it was always the plan for reliability and economy just had hoped to at least use it for awhile as it is. if i get motivated i may try chuck a gasket at it and see if it comes right and use it for awhile until i have all the conversion worked out. here is a very technical drawing of the plan of attack

man that sucks to read that, I don't understand how someone can come along and try pinch someones pride and joy like that, they should get put down. My boss had a mishap with a hotrod of quite some value and he is insured with swan and he said they couldn't of been any better came to the party with paying for some of his labour ect, hope it goes the same for you

child of the 90's haha i like most other cheviot wheels but turbos just really don't do it for me! theres just something about a nice set of hubcaps and white walls, it really sets off the viva! -
pretty happy, today i got it running with the MA engine and its not smokey, no strange noises from the engine and no strange noise from gearbox/clutch….. success. took it for a small drive around the block but not very far as it needs a fan belt to drive the water pump as the old one won't fit as MA has a different alt set-up and a different water pump pulley. so off to get a belt tomorrow and bolt the bonnet back on then proper test drive

another trick is to use a old bearing housing of a axle then weld a tube to it and some lugs to the tube to support it in the press, then slip it over the axle and bolt it too the flange and then you can press on the axle end until it lets go

Awesome work Allan! How are you getting on engine wise? are you still going with the UA 1500? or Found a NA,VC or MA? if you want any info from the workshop manuals i have both the factory mazda manual and haynes. just give me a message and I am more than happy to scan what ever you need and email it through! keep up the good work

so long time no update, over xmas/ new year break got impatient with piecing back the VC engine together and brought a MA and 5 speed from a 626 and dumped it in, but since then we brought a place in Jan and this got pushed into the back of the garage and covered up. probably should try get it on the road sometime soon. needs all the ancillary bits and pieces swapped over and wired back up, some new oil in the motor and box and see how it goes, fingers crossed its a decent gearbox too.
