  1. I always use lock tight to seal frost plugs. make sure everything is nice and clean before you hit it in, a half inch drive socket is a good way to help get them in.
  2. Often the ignition can play up under load. There is something that can fail in the carb that gives them a vacuum inside the carb. I can't remember what though...
  3. Sounds like it's missing. check the plugs/leads/ignition system.
  4. Awesome. Thanks. How old is that tandem? It's pretty sweet.
  5. Where did that cotter pin press come from? I want one.
  6. As above. Exhaust tube with a cut up one side works well.
  7. Sorry Avondale/mainfreight are well out of my area.
  8. The problem is that alot of dual fuel vehicles have a fairly rudimentry LPG fuel system. If it was dedicated LPG and/or had a better LPG fuel system people would get much better results when using LPG. Like petrol the LPG carb and regulator need to match the size of the motor. All the parts you want can be found on Trade Me or Ebay for cheap if you know what to look for. They aren't very complex and can be freshened up at home. Getting a tank retested is about S100 from memory. You can reuse all the hose fittings too, the only part that needs to be fitted new is the flexible fuel line. Hunt around wreckers etc. $4000+ is for a totaly new system installed by a workshop.
  9. Kaiapoi is just down the road from my house, I could pick it up and pass it on. I have some other freight to pass on to a nats attendee at the same time. Is it paid for? PM me your details.
  10. Don't panic bro. Dirty_Leppa will be in bound with your goods. I will drop them off to him asap!
  11. You're in ChCh RT? American Auto Parts. Sydenham Park, or Ford.
  12. Where in ChCh are they? Can you find out. These will cost LOTS to get to you.
  13. Just use it with the paint wet. It's a wiping action between the teeth so it will wipe the wet paint away more easily.
  14. I'm still keen, I have a lot on the horizon at the moment though. Do you have a day in mind?
  15. Sweet. I'm glowing with pride now! The box went good today I was impressed. Just come along it doesn't matter if your car doesn't go. It doesn't bother RXOCSM anyway. Big Louies impromptu dounughts made the day for me.
  16. Do it Dan. It's well worth it. You aren't ment to do it your self, only people with an installer cert should be doing the conversion. There are a number of ways you can make it work. The best bet is to call Mark at Allen Auto Gas. Once your car is converted go to Rock Gas and get a rock gas card, you can buy LPG for about $1.15 per litre.
  17. I cant help voting for the sick option, every time. A drive to ashvegas would be cool, something that suits my big car better. I can't decide if I'm proud or ashamed to have been the recipient It lives here for now, in erm pride of place...
  18. Yeah most work shop manuals say wrap string around it etc etc. Don't worry to much. most of the drag is the seal anyway. Just very slowly nip the pinion nut up and check it by hand. It's not to different to a front wheel bearing on your ute. Try dummy assembling it with out the seal and crush tube in it, set the bearing so it's tight but not notchy, mark the position of the nut on the pinion, take it apart assemble it finaly and adjust the nut untill your marks line up again. Think of it like adjusting a wheel bearing. It needs to be tight but not to tight.
  19. If you have replaced the only the diff bearings bearings then the wear pattern should be right. Double check it when it is all together. You can use spray paint to do it. It's a bit ghetto but it works. If you are really concerned about it dummy assemble the diff with out the colapseable spacer on the pinion, just nip the pinion nut up, put the crown wheel and carrier in and check it. Normaly the preload with the crush tube is set by pulling the pinion flange with a fish scale to measure the drag. Put the whole pinion assembly in and slowly tighten the flange nut untill there is no play in the bearings but not so tight that the rotation of the pinion feels "notchy"
  20. Awesome. It's in Picton. I've got someone to pick it up, how long are you up there for?
