borrow - verniar calipers - wellington
anglia4 replied to Beaver's topic in Lower North Island Region
I have a set of king tony ones. They are sweet as but I have fucked them from being a rough cunt. Will get another set soon though and paint the current ones some bright colour for rough cunt duties EDIT: would only every buy vernier calipers, not digital ones. -
I had a VR6 and loved it. Made a seriously awesome noise and had some awesome grunt. Got about 12 l/100km around town but could get it below 7 on a trip. (it had an average fuel usage meter)

Shit that looks perfect! These things are about the only RX7 I'd own
-
Ozzy is a really awesome dog but unfortunately he isn't up to that task
-
I saw a bunch on a road for free in hornby. The main road that pickapart is on I think

Falcon Engineering in Taranaki make branding irons for timber also. The ones they make are CNC milled into a block which has a hole in the back of it to attach to some kind of gas torch. I don't think they are for manually branding, I think they go in some machine

This is fair warning for Mrs Valiant and Mrs Felixx! Thursday 19 Oct will be the last bike night that I will be able to attend in the foreseeable future as I prepare to make the pilgrimage back to Maui's big fish. I've only really got to know all you guys in the last few months so I'm pretty gutted to have to leave. Anyway, I'm gonna claim that bike night as my leaving drinks. Attendance is compulsory. Bike night Smash Palace Cnr Bealey ave and Victoria st Thursday 19 October. Mrs Anglia4 is flying down that day to be a part of the festivities and then travel back with me so if anyone has a sweer learner legal bike they could lend, that would be choice. She is going to hire one from a bike shop for a ride to akaroa, but I'm not sure if we will be able to have it over night.

You can keep your hipster bicycle advice Mr "Normal paint is too mainstream for me" Pogward But we do still need to exchange seat clamps at some stage
-
lol nobody checks those things!

Agree with the man points for kick starting! I don't think the 4 strokes would back-fire quite like the big 2's! Our dad used to have a CR500 and nearly broke his foot trying to start it in gum-boots, he only made that mistake once! The carb cleaned up nice steve. And I just noticed that your exhaust is really similar to the ones I got at the swapmeet. Man I hope they are loud /they probably aren't

I went and ordered the PC-1 chain today which was all I need to finish putting it together. Then couldn't wait for it to turn up so I've poached the PC-1 off my singlespeed mountain bike I've put on the guards too which makes it look a little more civilised and no-longer hipsterish. Its actually rediculous how much faster it is than the turbo. So light, the right size for me and the skinny tyres... Anyway, pics: so slammed
-
I'm just going to leave it as is aye. a mud guard would ruin it. WOF man didn't care about the sideways plate. Its got a 10mm thick layer of yoga mat on the seat. Makes it look heaps tidier and makes it just bareable to ride. It was close to an hours riding to get to Hororata, I noticed myself getting a sore muscle in my back from the jarring on the way back, but that has been an on-going problem, so for normal people it would be fine to ride.
-
NO It will be getting a SRAM PC1.
-
The power of oldschool and the simplicity of a chevette. Fixed within a page

It will be considerably less hipster when it has mudguards and a carry rack! I'm trying real hard to avoid it being hipster. Thats why I went for re-building an old bike over buying one of these: which would have been cheaper... I'm going to get some decals made for it to give it a vintage Italian look at some stage summary: Get fucked Dylan cos its in the shed next to the Mifa!
-
EDIT: Without the mud guards its looking like it will be sub 10kg
-
Close. It still needs a chain as I decided I don't want to use that one. And one of the brake adjusters has rusted stuck on the caliper. I also need to do the bar tape and mud-guards but the guards need a bit of pissing around. Have an assignment due tomorrow Yeah man, gonna run some SPD's but gotta buy new shoes first.

Shit yes. I was standing there thinking I had just watched the end of Ken Smith. Glad it wasn't quite as bad as it first looked. Still bad though! -
How the Turbo shall be remembered The new bike ready to be built

Might have to have a nudge at this in the future: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=40414.0 Adds 20hp and if you use a CB550 gearbox it makes it kick start too for extra cool points
