    aswell as liking the stretched look its for practical reasons the car has very limited fitment so i do need to able to run a tyre will no ballooning to fit- so keen for more info on those 145s have asked a few tyre shops/my mechanic and so far the narrowest is 175.

    Hey mods move this if i posted in the wrong place please shift but it's kind of techie Now tyre guys, I'm looking for a tyre as narrow as I can get for a 5inch wide 15 steelie. It has to be quite short ideally 50/55. Wondering what brand does a narrow tyre hopefully a 155 maybe a 165? Thanks

Hey I had dobi's in my mk1 they are NOT captive with standard inserts, I had new inserts machines down 15mm which made them just captive, I tried having them machined down 10mm but they still didnt have enough tension to stop me turning them. I also have some king springs which to the best of my memory they were captive with standard inserts. When you buy new springs they usually have a small print out which tells you which way to put the springs in, im pretty sure its the end with the springs more compressed at the bottom but have been told it doesn't really matter as long as they sit in the groove/seat properly.

  7. I'm pretty sure when snells springs made some up for me the were $14 each and came with nylocs, could try and see how cheap they could do them for?
  8. Replaced this with a brand new one. Yera this is about the only thing left in the igntion set up left to replace, rechecked and they do look mint but might give that a try anyway. Vacum seems to be fine, how do i check for tight tappets? I've done tappets on my escort, tappet cover off and just measure gaps? how to I tell if something is tracking? this could be the most likely thing as I dont think its tappets as its now at the point the engine will only start/barely run when cold and after its turned off you cant restart it warm. Also read on the internet when searching for similar symptoms check compression - fark I brought this as a cheap runa around - not really working out :/
  9. PSS the missing got worse as the car warmed up - seemed to run better when cold - but even when cold now runs terribly.
  10. PS the dizzy cap and rotor appear to be in good cond, car has only just done over 100k from new. This is a 1986 honda city- carb
  11. Hey so my honda city I picked u from a lil old lady as a work comuter a couple months ago had a slight miss issue when I purchased it. I wasn't worried about it much used some petrol tank claner and carb clean just incase there was some crap somewhere there. The miss started getting worse under load so I figured it was a electric issue. The Spark plugs where new according a service reciept from 2000k ago. Have pulled the plugs out and are as new with no one showing anymore wear/use signs of anything more than any other one. Have replaced the leads with new ones and that made no differnce at all. Tried replacing the coil with the coil listed in repco's system (cic31). This made the car barely run at all- swapped back to the original coil and it went back to running just with its miss which has been rapidly getting worse now. Went back to repco returned coild and tried the only other coil it looked like it could be, car wouldn't even start with second coil. At this point car has got so bad I can't drive it even with original coil in it. Went and got a new ignition module from repco, this made no differnce car still runs terribly and is near undrivable. Any idea would be be awesome as I need to get car running ASAP Will be taken to mechanics on tuesday if i can't sort something before then. Thanks

  16. Have 2'1/4 on my 1600 its pretty worked and running two mufflers and sounds pretty sweet imo. But headers and cab make a big differnce to the sounds aswell. Cheap option 2' exhaust run 1 hotdog style muffler full of steelos XD
  17. After a quick skim read i didnt see anyone mention 30mono grade oil for running in a engine. Not sure you should use a that oil but have heard u should. Maybe google? but its sold pretty much everywhere.
  18. find a suitable sump (beaten 1300 or 1600 from a escort) rather than use spacers or slotting up mounts... my thoughts :/
  19. Hey when I did a 1600 conversion to my mk1 I had this problem after much research I found that I did have the correct two engine mounts and both on the same side, my issue was my sump. Some of th cortinas have the bowl on the oppisite side to the escort but theres one that has the same side but its a larger bowl and sits on the steering rack. I ended up basing out a 1300 sump to work.
  20. keen on doing this to my esky, have read the tec articale and im def gonna cut down my struts. Would like to know where you purchased the rally kit from and how much it was or where a good place to buy a kit from is. G/L sorting yours. I'd start again, otherwise it'll always be half pie.
