  1. I wish my TIG worked better on panel steel. It would be much easier to weld this panel in. Until next time. Merry New Years.
  2. The passengers door was starting to bubble out and the paint was just completely fucked. I got sick of looking at it when it was parked on the side of the road, so I decided to strip it back. Then pull of the door completely. The internal frame and door skin were pretty rotten so I've been slowly rebuilding this and I managed to source a half skin here in NZ so I'm slowly stitching that in at the moment. When I finally get my own garage the plan is to re-skin both doors when I repaint the entire car. Anyway words are gay, here are some photos of some shoddy panel beating.
  3. Long time no post. Since last time, I have daily driven the old girl for about 3months. Gave the carbs a birthday, and run out of fuel in the middle of a giant round about because of the worlds most inaccurate fuel gauge sender. The gauge reads 3/4 Full when the fuel tank is damn near overflowing and works until it drops to just below 1/2 full and then stays there, but moves around a fair bit. I'll order another fuel sender in the new year and hope like hell they send me the right one this time. So I was avoiding investigating a rather awful piece of floor in the passengers foot well for a little while but when I put a jack on the lift point and basically put the jack through the floor I decided I had to do something about it. Unfortunately no photos. But it's now got a nice new piece of floor that's a much more solid than the original piece.
  4. Auto's should all be checked with the engine running in Park or Neutral, take it for a small run first to ensure everything is fill that needs to be. To me it sounds like you've had a clutch pack failure, when the clutch linings fail completely they block all the hydraulic ports and oil pan pick up and can cause weird problems in the other gears / circuits that haven't failed. This is usually why you get a complete no drive condition on an Auto when it's poked, it;s usually just blocked the pick up screen to the pump. But if it's just slipping in a higher gear, you need to take it to an expert, i'd say it needs a major repair.
  5. I like how you quoted HP @ Flywheel but KW @ wheels... Keen for a twilight session in January?? Mark and I are trying to do as many as possible ATM...
  6. Get a log book application in asap?? Only $30...
  7. Get a log book application in asap?? Only $30...
  8. Haha yeah I thought this was Wednesday, shall be there, New rear sway bar to test out and then Front Sway Bar removal simulation...
  9. I think we should hit rangiriri. Sweet pub food.
  10. Lock diffs are an option, if you can drive aggressively, throttle steer and it suits your style, sweet. They have some serious downsides, I mean there's a reason they invented differentials in the first place. Because a locker sure as hell ain't a diff. But NZV8's run them, we spend our entire season pulling axles in and out and the diffs eventually give up usually with the internals finding there way to open air. But they are whales and running very soft compound slicks, with huge amounts of grip. Personally I wouldn't run a locker, but that doesn't mean much, 30 secs of watching Markku's Hampton video is proof enough I can't drive.
  11. Haha man that was a sweet day... My car looks beautiful spinning down and off the track... Probably need to learn to drive.
  12. I'd you could find wiring diagrams and the likes for all the systems you might have some luck. But if your paying someone @ a retail rate to figure the wiring etc out it will bankrupt you. I want to tackle one, either wiring in the factory ecu or attempting to run the direct injection off an aftermarket ecu. Too bad I sold my crown. One day. One day.
  13. Think of it as collateral damage and be done with it. Global Financial Crisis is over didn't you hear??
  14. Sounds silly but could you build a screen for inlet and use an intercooler to help protect the engine from compressor ingestion. Not sure what more preventative measures you could use...
  15. Starter failure shouldn't be an issue on their budgets... I was looking at photos and its no like their tiny super lightweight things. Insulate the housings... Power Steering has been a significant problem for a lot of teams this season...
  16. Man that is lush, bet it's Chinese as fuck. But otherwise it'd be so sweet.
  17. When I messaged them, I let them know my car is a Club Car / Race Car (Not Really) and no issues were had, so I am pretty sure it's not a problem.
  18. Anyone clue me into WTF was wrong with everyone's starter motors. I've never heard of anything like it before... P.S That Chev Sonic looks badass...
  19. I doubt they will let the most successful current Touring car series fall to the floor because manufacturing is stopping in Australia...
