  1. Yep, 4G32 had the KM119 gearbox whereas the 4G63 uses the KM132 The KM119 is slightly smaller And input shaft is smaller.
  2. Nah, 4G32 and 4G63 run different clutches
  3. Double check the diameter of the 2 struts bro. Starion might be slightly bigger so the sleeve on the other struts may not fit. RE: Lancer problems - Story of my life
  4. Would the only difference between the EVO and RVR be the timing? (CAS vs Trigger wheel?)
  5. Motor out time Im in the middle of putting all the bits from one motor to the other. The motor on the left is the next victim. Im going to be doing the valve stem seals regardless. A lot easier to do with it on an engine stand. Waiting for my cambelts to arrive from America. Once they arrive I can full assemble the engine and slap it in. Still havent found out what the issue was/is. The EGR port was clogged with oil gunk. Depending on when the cambelts arrive I should hopefully have this running next week and maybe have this back on the road. If this engine is as bad as the last one its definitely rebuild time. Have a great new years everyone
  6. Ive stripped the engine of all the bits I dont need. I just need it down to a "Long block" situation. Spent today pulling it down some more and degreasing. The rebuild idea is on hold. Going to slam this motor in and see if its an OK runner. I pulled the exhaust manifold off the engine thats currently in my wagon and found a lot of oil around port 4 and a lot of build up. The oil feed for turbo'd motors is just above this port. I have a feeling the head is cracked in this area but im unsure. I will inspect better when the engine comes out. Ive got a bit of time off work over the break so will crack on with the swap then.
  7. The gbox I put in this didnt have a gear knob. I had to borrow the one from my DOHC wagon. Because im tight and HATE parting with money, I decided to make one. I was walking around work looking for something round, long and that we have plenty of lying at work. So I spun a long nut down to fit inside the tube. Tapped the nut to M10x1.25 and welded inside. Chopped the wrench half way-ish. Presto Adjustie talk gbox cuz Pointless update over.
  8. Yeah cut the front sigma springs. That's what im running. For the rear I didn't have to change my shocks. The springs stay captive with the golf springs in.
  9. If you can grab these for cheap - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/volkswagen/auction-668630231.htm - Use the front springs in the rear. Ive got unknown brand lowering springs in the rear of mine and it sits perfectly in the spring perches. For the front cut the springs and get the shock shortened/shorter shocks
  10. Put the engine at TDC, number 1 firing. There is a dot on the dizzy gear and a line on the shaft of the dizzy. Line these marks up. There is a line where the stud pokes thru when you tighten up the dizzy. When you slot the dizzy in the hole make sure the stud is in line with this mark. Trying to find pictures but its proving difficult
  11. Engine number 3 Brought another 4G63. Was going to put this in and see if it runs but I might actually rebuild this one.
  12. Yup, so shes back on the road. Took it for a hoon today to Hamilton. A bit floaty but meh, it goes. Next mission is wheels.
  13. Well it failed which I expected it to. Exhaust leaks L/F chassis rail damaged R/R seat belt Remedy handbrake I knew about the chassis rail damage and hoped they wouldnt see/knock it. When I saw them looking at it thoroughly I thought 'shit'. The guy talked to me about the damage and said the rail is separating and to close the gap and weld it. I asked if I could do it myself and he said sure. FUCKING STOKED! Was under the impression chassis damage needs to be done by a panel beater So I will have this legal next weekend. Time to enjoy this weekend.

  15. So, tomorrow is WOF/Pink sticker removal day (hopefully) Managed to find another Sigma wagon that I raided parts off that this was missing Hope it passes because my DOHC wagon is toast.
  16. One step forward, 5 steps back. Decided to try and get a WOF without a cert and succeeded. Decided to try and fix the smoking issue - Did not succeed. It seems this engine does not want to be cured. Ran into problem after problem. Brought a valve spring compressor tool to do the valve stems but turned out that this particular tool wouldnt fit in. So, I made one. Didnt work too bad. Took a bit of getting use to. Replaced all the valve stem seals which was a massive drama but I wont bore you with the details. Lets just say theres a collet in the sump and its staying there. The ol man said that it will still smoke for a while due to oil in the exhaust system and to drive it and monitor the oil level. The smoking was marginally better. Took it for a hoon out to Katikati this weekend and monitored my oil pressure gauge. Level was high when I left home. Got to Paeroa and the level was pretty low. Brought 4 litres of oil and it took the whole lot. F...M...L! So, I guess it can only be rings. Joy. Im going to switch my concentration on to the maroon wagon now to get that road legal and sold to fund for a new engine/rebuild. Anyone have or know of a 4G63 DOHC long block somewhere?
  17. Ive just done the front struts in my wagon. Used KYB inserts that I got shortened by Autolign. The aussies use Camira inserts - http://www.sigma-galant.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1917
  18. You know when you see people joke about Mitsis with the "Blue smoke" comments? It aint no joke - and this car proves it. At the moment im spending more on oil than fuel! NO SHIT. Roughly 4L of oil a week..... sadface Praying that its just valve guide seals but im thinking engine overhaul time. And because im lazy as shit I havent got this certified and now the WOF is out. FML. Parting pic
  19. Been mucking around with this car lately. Decided to get it back on the road. Its pink sticker'd at the moment, for small stuff - Tinted park and tail lights, bald front tyre, no spare tyre. rbdrifter sorted the tail lights out. I brought some better front park lights. Had my original 2L SOHC still from my wagon so was a no brainer to slam that in this wagon. When I got this wagon it had EX Lancer struts and other bits. Swapped everything for Sigma gear. Engine and box in Had a little rust which actually turned out to be a lot of rust in the corner of the engine bay. Cut it all out and put metal in place. Not pretty but functional Still a few bits to do. Should hopefully have it road legal by next month maybe. Actually need to get this going as my wagon needs urgent attention. Obligatory group shot
  20. Awesome work man. Good to see you're using quality measuring tools! <-- May or may not work for company that imports said tools......
  21. Has anyone had experience removing a pink sticker without the paper work that's normally issued?
  22. Injected enigines seem to have them
