  1. Looking at going to an electric fuel pump, what pressure pump would i need?
  2. Rats, so is any hose ment to go on it or is it just like a breather tube? And will oil and fuel be mixing if seal is broken? Cheers
  3. My fuel pump ( 4g63 SOHC 8v) is dripping oil out of a line that points downwards, is this ment to have a hose on it or is oil even ment to be coming out of it? Same fuel pump as below, the line im talking about is the silver one on left. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GOSS-FUEL-PUMP-MECHANICAL-HYUNDAI-EXCEL-MITSUBISHI-COLT-EXPRESS-L300-LANCER-4G63-/180847504979
  4. Had some time after the xmas madness to figure out whats wrong. So its not the handbrake as the wheels spin freely when i jacked up the end. I played around with the kickdown cable, which seemed to make it worse if anything. Then i realised i had only put 3 litres of tranny fluid in it. So i poured the other litre in from the container and it seems like its fixed the problem. But now the problem is - the fluid level on the dip stick is reading a little bit over on the 'hot' mark when its cold. Iv had the tourque converter off and drained it when i rebuilt the motor, and i drained the old fluid out the box, but iv only put 4 litres of fresh fluid in, and iv contacted two places and they reckon it should take about 7 litres from dry. Anyone got any ideas? Its a sohc 8v 4g63, not sure of gearbox code.
  5. Yea ill check the kickdown, didnt think off that, cheers. What would i be looking for adjustment wise? Iv never worked with these before. Should i just give it a tighten up then check if it still does it?
  6. Took the newly rebuilt sportpac for its first drive, wheels are hesitating then skidding up on take offs, mainly on grass gravel etc. When i put my foot down to take off it feels as if no power is reaching rear wheels, then grabs all of a sudden and skids up. On road surface it still hesitates but gets traction and launches. It is an automatic, could it be to do with fluid levels, or something in the diff maybe?. Didnt have this problem before rebuild of motor.
  7. pulled hose off fuel pump, no idea what hose goes to it though. that fixed the cutting out problem. still quite smoky out exhaust when accelerating, not when idling. when I took it for a drive every now and again it would spray a bit of oil that seemed quite thin out around the oil cap and hose that goes from the rocker cover to intake pipe, I think it could be fuel in the oil. a bit of smoke pours out this hose too when I remove it under acceleration.
  8. The gold ufo shaped thing underneath fuel pump. Is that not a vacuume port? Yes new rings, carb was adjusted when the motor had a blown head gasket (nobody could diagnose problem) so not sure if that will effect it or not.
  9. I changed two vaccuume hoses around, the one from the dizzy and one from the fuel pump. Engine now runs for around a minute before dyeing. I think its dyeing because alot of smoke is building up in the intake and i think its starving it of air. A bit of smoke and black splatter is coming out exhaust aswell
  10. Good news is it starts every time I turn the key, without aid of the accelerator, but it will only run for 5-10 seconds before it dies. If I press accelerator down it will rev then drop and almost die, then gain revs again then die. Quite a bit of smoke coming from carb/intake pipe after trying to rev, not when left to idle, or very little. Still bad timing? or do I need to adjust carb? ( I'm new to carbs, not sure which screws which)
  11. Ok i will give this a go, cheers for the help guys, will update soon
  12. Im lining the inside dizzy gear mark up with what i think is a timing mark on the shaft, but as for the stud and the slot im unsure. Pics would be really helpfull, i'll try get some up too. Yes all plugs getting spark. Just another thought, haveing a dry torque convertor couldn't effect starting? I know some lawn mowers need the blades installed for the momentum when starting..
  13. I have just rebuilt a sohc 8v 4g63 for a l300 sportpac. I cant get it running and i think it is the timing on the distributor, as im unsure what the timing marks are for it. On the gear it has a mark on the side faceing the dizzy, and a mark on the same tooth but on the side faceing the head. Im not sure what to line this up with, and which mark- as the two on the dizzy gear are not directly opposite each other since its not a straight cut gear.
