  2. Cars huh? Today the certifier was meant to drive the car and do the brake check (3 x 100km/hr stops). I got to the workshop earlier and was told that he was unable to do so. He got to 100 once, then the engine leaned out so bad that it couldn't get 100 again. The fuel pump is screaming, so I guess it's part tune and part fuel supply? I don't really know A new wof check also determined that my recaro seat has too much play, and that there is a plate on the b pillar too close to the door latch. I am so happy.
  3. Had a cert recheck yesterday. Also went to get a wheel alignment and got beached twice, once on the driveway and once on the hoist, I felt like the man with my tail hanging out on a two lane main road revving my 107dB exhaust trying to get free. Found that the exhaust is really loud. Testing rpm for a 4age is 4950rpm and is allowed 95dB. I reached 3500rpm and was at 107dB. Retested today at 94.5dB, success! Using baffles in the exhaust flanges which are easily removed for track use. Also need to sort something better than a mizone bottle for a catch can. Pending a drive tomorrow and photos being passed by Wellington it should be good to go.
  4. No worries if you don't want it. It's 500w x 400d x 460ish high. Give me a text either way 021 0249 3707. If you don't want it I don't have to clean it
  5. I'm helping dad pull a gimbaled two burner hob and oven combo out of a boat in his charter fleet as I write this. It's got issues with its thermocouplers, but it's free if you want it. In Auckland.
  6. I spelled gimbaled wrong. On my boat I just had a gimbaled stainless tray that I sat a camping stove on. Along those lines. http://www.wikihow.com/Sail-a-Boat You can see in the first diagram where the keel is. Your boat is a bilge keeler as instead of one deep board it has two shallower boards on diagonals. This is great cause they happily support the boat on the hard, and draw less water, so you can get closer to the beach. The downside is that you have less "bite" in the water and slide sideways more when you are sailing up to the wind. Any sail in front of the mast is a head sail, jib and genoa are types of headsails.
  7. What sails do you have? Main, No.1, No.2, spinnaker? You've done well there, Noelex's sail really well for trailer boats. Hope she goes to windward well, that's the main gripe of bilge keelers, pretty well made up for in how close you can get to the beach though! For a man of your talents it should be pretty easy to knock up a galley unit. Stainless or plastic water tank in one of those cabin seat lockers, hand pump faucet and a cabinet with a sink. You could easily make a gimbled shelf thingy to sit a camp stove on. You need the gimble if you want a brew while you're underway. I had a 22' Variant until a year ago, love small yachts.
  8. Soo, turned out that it had just popped a fuse, it's that long ago that I can't remember which one. The diff was leaking due to shagged pinion bearings, swapped the 4.1 open diff back in for the mean time as it's booked in for a cert recheck on Tuesday. For the record, Alex Gee has been awesome about me being a slow cunt.
  9. My old L300 was duel fuel, I never mucked with it, but was always a little boggy on petrol. I was told that it was a good idea to run a few kms on petrol per tank of lpg, helped keep the carb in good knick. I never looked into the science of that, but I never had any problems either.
  10. My auto 140km SR20 bluebird gets 600-650km to a $120 (98) tank. I don't nana it either.
  11. Man that paint looks good! Just wondering, what is "these puppies"?
  12. Great post, thanks mate. I'll check out that site.
  13. I'm pretty confident in the wiring, the guy who did it is pretty switched on (pun intentional). Not a silly question, the condition improved dramatically when I purchased and put the correct injectors in! Edit: Still not sorted though.
  14. Will do. Cheers. Would a faulty sensor sending bung signals put it out much?
  15. That is amazing! Just showed the video to the Missus, should've seen her face when the rear seat starting moving What do all the switches in the center console do?
  16. I've been trying to diagnose my AE85 richness problems without spending any money (aimlessly wandering the internet). It does sound as though there's a good chance that there is some issue with the oxy sensor. From what I can tell, the factory 02 sensor location on a small port 4age is in the 2-1 section of the exhaust (please correct me if I'm wrong). On my apexi headers it's about 150-200mm from the engine on a single runner. I would have thought that this was less than ideal as it's only getting a reading from one cylinder. Would this be a major problem?
  17. Whatever it was, it floated my vessel.
  18. Strongly disagree. The best part about boats is not the hooning (though that's good too), it's when you get somewhere awesome (back of Waiheke or Barrier), drop the anchor, drop a line and lift a beer. Then the next best part is waking up in that place on a breathless morning with the bay looking like a piece of glass and birds singing, doing morning bombs and frying up the previous day's catch for breakfast. I miss my boat
  19. That rot isn't all that bad. A boat builder would charge quite a bit to fix it cause they'll want to do an immaculate job. If you just want to get it seaworthy, drop a few hundy on a good marine epoxy kit, a sheet of marine ply and some screws and go nuts.
  20. I have been talking to the Missus about buying an older yanky car to do up, I said "take pictures of your favorite cars and show me after", her top two were that vauxhall and Azzuro's fiat.
  21. Saw a few of you jokers' cars. The missus got a bit cold though, so didn't try too hard to find yous.
