  1. Someones already mentioned it, but i'd paint the area you plan to work on cars. Less cost, easy to do whenever as you just move shit elsewhere while doing it. Cleaning up oil, grease, errything off a painted floor is a case of rag and degreaser and it comes up like new. Have recently seen carpet in garages of retirement homes that is like 2mm thick. Probably marine carpet. Would so rock that in areas car's won't leak fluids. Lino? Back in the 90s that would have been grand I'd rock plain concrete over lino.
  2. When I set up an amp I sanded a small area of paint, drilled a hole and bolted the earth to the car. Then sprayed the whole lot to stop rust. Works a lot better than a single screw
  3. Blown fuse in the amp? You should get a light of some description if there is one on it.
  4. 4ohm should be common as, so i'd go that way. If it's 55W RMS, then just find some speakers that are rated to something slightly higher RMS input. Most speaker ratings are pointless, RMS are the ratings you want to compare. The ratings most used are just marketing rubbish and not all that helpful. Could be wrong on some of that as i'm not sounds expert, but should be mostly right. I'd probably grab a pair of boxed 6x9 speakers of known brand for a relatively cheap / good sound. Where are the speakers going? Could always know together a box for in the boot with speakers build in / amp bolted to the side.
  5. Is it not working or have you not tried yet?
  6. Wow.... quality of work looks mint. Some pretty sweet rides over the years! Always get more points if you do all the work yourself imo. So good shit.
  7. Will look weird, standard ones suit em. This is based purely on my opinion though.
  8. Oh yeah whoops.... grab a water and have a read
  9. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22694 Grab a beer and have a read
  10. Got some in hornby. Too late to text ya now, but just let me know if you want them and you can grab them after work Thursday. Not your typical ones "double claw", they are home made but do the trick.
  11. I've filled bigger gaps than 4mm with solder had to hide my shoddy sheet metal work somehow. Not an option though?
  12. Try spot welded, in places I can barely get my hand. So not much chance to drill the spot welds out without a nightmare. I'm sure it's possible, but fuck that.
  13. Interesting.... I got told its easier to cut holes in the top of the guard to fix rust rather than take the guard off. I need to fix rust in that area so may just weld it up... Could you just put a bead of decent sealant in there that is paintable? The stuff with use at work, Silaflex MS is flexible, lasts and can be painted over. So even if you just brushed some paint on the top of it, if the paint cracked it won't get past the sealant.
  14. might have a dead/dying cell. they all got water?
  15. I got some +50 or +100 bulbs (Narva I think) in dailies and it was a good improvement over standard spec bulbs.
  16. As per spam, my guess is battery. What voltage does it drop to while cranking? Going dead flat can easily kill batteries. Alternator could still be at fault as well though.
  17. Not saying this is a good idea, but i've considered drilling ~10mm holes in the floor above chassis rails and spraying in some sort of protection. If that's not even possible then i'm not sure.
  18. Yeah I know what you're saying, and if I had parts coming out of my ears i'd look into it. Went last year and it was all good, just not much there I could even recognise. My knowledge of REALLY old cars is zip Cheers for the heads up though.
  19. Sup, is this the smaller meet which is aimed at the hotrod / really oldschool parts?
  20. $60 is what GB postage cost, not sure if related to this dealio. Anyways, pick up area would be handy, will keep an eye out incase it's my side of town.
  21. Unless the 4mm includes the backing plate, that is heaps of meat. As above, check the inner guards for shiny areas where the wheel could be rubbing. Is it at close to full lock or at any rate of turning?
  22. Never had any issues with water not getting through. I put weed mat down on my WHOLE section. Well anything that wasn't house or driveway. Hate weeds with a passion / cbf weeding. Just have to spray once a month and that keeps it all under control. Stones will likely be cheaper than bark, which is pretty spend if you need a lot.
