  1. Tonight was a unexpectedly productive night now I look back on it. Was meant to just be meeting Joe and Seedy to unload my motor and chuck it on Beavers engine stand but a traffic accident on the motorway held them up. So I trudged on and cleared up a couple items I've been meaning to do for a few weeks but just haven't had time - even though I've had the bits on hand the whole time. First of all I fitted up a new spacer/adapter and throttle bracket to fix the twitchyness that I was experiencing - all to do with the angle of the throttle cable in relation to the pivot. (sorry for potato photos) I mounted the spring mount at the wrong end and upside down because it fouled the air filter in the correct place. Probably puts a bit too much strain on the spindle so may rethink this. (but probably will leave it cos I'm lazy) Then Joe and Seedy turned up and we unloaded my new motor. I wasn't going to do anything more than just jam it on the engine stand but Joe tricked me into taking off the wiring loom. ... and the inlet manifold so I could check if it had a roller cam - which it does. woooo. leaving me with this by the time I was done. I also scored myself a scooter tonight too.
  2. Good ol Brown Brothers Port. Lovely drop.
  3. The metal on the face of the drum is typically fairly thin and more susceptible to heat and can warp (which is the part you will need to heat as that is the part that is sticking) whereas the outer circumference where the brake shoes run is thicker and the heat dissipates more easily.
  4. If the brakes are backed off then the drum should come off without too much hassle. (I presume the drum rotates freely?) But if the locating hub is damaged then heat ain't going to do shit except make it worse by fucking up the drum, If the hub is damaged then push/whack the drum back on, then carefully file/grind off any burrs or ridges on the hub. Once the hub is clear of burrs then spray a dose of CRC around the locating hub and drum face. Also clamp off the brake hose on the side you have the drum off (or put the drum back on) and whack the brake pedal a few times to centralize the drum. Then give it a solid whack with a decent club hammer (a sledge may damage shit so be a bit careful with that) I would hit it about as hard as energetically hitting a nail in home - perhaps a little more but not running up and swinging spec.
  5. Good shit Amy-san-hoe. Time for some foooly seeek 90's graphics?
  6. Post some pics of what you call excessive oil.
  7. Ka-pai Beave. Setting the bar high for other vanners at Wagnats.
  8. Running in normally takes 5-600 miles
  9. That goes hand in hand with a VW Kombi motor/transaxle transplant.
  10. But think how much easier it will be getting into bed after a few ales if its that much closer to the ground? Perhaps a crane will help.
  11. Hey Beave Slammed this bitch yet?
  12. All good - if it is induction noise then look at chucking on a factory ECOTEC airbox and it should shut it up a bit - they make horrific noises with a pod filter. (I'm just casually assuming its not a factory airbox)
  13. Sweeeet. FYI - those V6 Holden motors are meant to be fairly smooth so would check that its not got something bung. They harmonic dampers delaminate and eventually fall off. If that has started shitting its pants it could be the reason for harshness. Also chuck a set of plugs and leads at it. From memory they are vunerable to excessive heat and fail readily too.
  14. Roof Chop is epic and awesome! Bring to Nats next year.
  15. I had ribs there for my birthday - was overwhelmed and nearly passed out from excessive meat. Now I know how Steebs missus feels twice a year.
  16. Do hiring cars for filming come under commercial use and therefore your insurance is invalid and you may require a COF?
  17. Jam harder you vegan. Fix up the metal and rivnut.
  18. If I'm imagining right what you are saying then jam a screwdriver down there and wedge the tip between the rail and one of the hex flats of the nut then undo the screw..
  19. You sure its the fan making all the racket? I'm pretty sure those 4 bladed jobbies would be barely audible at 50mph in a landy with all the other noises going on.
  20. Yeah Volvo - Dimensions is HUGE as fuck. Something tells me it is 600mm diameter.
  21. Mechanical fans are noisy - those steel bladed ones are FUCKING noisy. Those 4 blade fans are relatively quiet. I would go electric.
  22. I heard you like vices yo - so you put a vice in a vice - that's some inception shit man. LOL (PS - vice looks SWEET in resplendent blue) I am also liking where you are going with triple carbs.
