  1. We have some old ones at work (ecnz days), I’ll have a dig and see what’s there. Also have a few of the ones I think you are talking about keen for power station hunting. Heading to waikaremiana next week actually
  2. Wicked cheers. And when adding fuel, EGT's are a pretty much must have to keep things safe yeh?
  3. Sorry for the hijack, but seems to be some smart diesel peeps looking in on here. How important/beneficial is a intercooler for a standard application? I have rd28t in my Gloria wagon, straight out of a gq I believe (non-intercooled). Everyone is telling me to put an intercooler on (a lot of whom don't own turboed diesels), but is it necessary? Or do I need to measure the EGT's and/or intake temps first to decide? Will I see any benefits if the EGT's and/or intake temps are OK to begin with?
  4. More pictureless updates, wof aquired, boost gauge installed and pushing a solid 10 psi. car is booked in for a couple of weeks to get the head pulled and valves done etc. progress.
  5. Looks like fun, I got snagged at work so was too late to bother by the time I got home
  6. Sweet, ill get in touch with them etc. Will name dropping you help or will they charge me extra?
  7. will Change kickoff to 630 (which is what it usually is in summer, I’m just a muppet), so you’ll get a whole extra 30 minutes with us special people
  8. Yeh im leaning towards just throwing money at someone to do it all TBH. (bought not built etc).
  9. Rofl. I have the head off the old motor as well, but TBH would rather do it once and do it right (despite all by dicking about previously). But thank you for the kind offer.
  10. Update time. Compression test shows 3 cylinders at 340 (goal is around 400 I'm told), 1 at 200, and two at low 200's. They were also able to confirm that the timing mark on the crank pulley is not actually TDC, which it should be (which explains the pump timing issue). Cant explain this one. Their diagnosis was that at least a couple of valves are not seating properly, likely damaged/from contact with the cam. Diesel and turbo (where the car is) don't do head work, so any Welly boes have any recommendations? @Seedy Al @AllTorque They recommended Kerry Lindsay in Petone. Idea will be to get the head off, do the valves, check for other damage (hoping for none), remark the timing pulley at TDC, and chuck back together and pray it works. Good news is car still starts and drives which makes life a bit easier. Oh and @kyteler I spoke with them about the possibility of cam timing creating these issues, and he was pretty confident that wouldn't be the case based on the results.
  11. It did (after you removed my screwdriver from it ) it was my ghetto set up to turn it over which was the fail haha
  12. Keen as always. Was hoping to rechristen the wagon but that’l have to wait for now. Calendar looks booked till mid March mind you, but don’t let me stop you lot
  13. Oh yeh for sure. Was thinking that if comp test shows one or two cylinders dud and the rest ok then I’ll get them to take head off and do valves then reassemble and retime etc. should have done that in the first place (head off when I found the snapped cam) but I guess you live and learn! At least that’s chasing a plausible problem rather than just trying things at will haha
  14. Diesel and churbro. Not sure yet, will have a chat with them and see what they have to say. Pretty keen to not have to fuck around with it myself haha
  15. Oh for shizzle, appreciate the input and will add it to the list of possibilities/things to check.
  16. Possibly? I’d say I was pretty confident I timed it up properly but stranger things have happened (and if what the workshop said is correct re: crank timing then I’ve done something wrong, or something has slipped). When they ring back with compression test results I’ll yarn about that to him and see what they say (they are the experts after all). If it’s only one cylinder that’s bung, would that reduce the likelihood of it being cam timing? I would have thought that if it’s a tooth or two out then it would affect all cylinders.
  17. The guy reckoned two separate issues, so probably not. Will see what the comp test shows, but will likely commit to getting them to pull the head off and go from there. If its just a valve or two then cant imagine its a big deal to replace.
  18. Ah, well, right. Honeymoon period is well and truly over. Dropped the ol' girl off on Saturday to get the injector pump timing looked at (had replaced injector pump and had no way of timing it myself). Guy rang me up today with some not so great news. So they set the pump to spec, and it wouldn't run, so put it back to where it was (super advanced), suggesting that something is out of whack with the crank timing (which is what everything is based off). Then he said that is not running on all 6, and drives like a sack of spuds off boost (which is true) and that the chuff coming out the intake (which I had heard and ignored) suggests that there is a compression issue. I told him about the whole ordeal with the snapped cam etc and so current thinking is that when it broke, there was in fact some metal on metal contact and that one of more of the valves isn't super happy (not surprised tbh). So they are going to do a compression test for me which should help narrow things down, but it sounds like the head will have to come off and best case scenario its just a couple of valves. In reality, none of this is surprising, and I guess is just part and parcel of sticking a motor in that had evidence of issues. Glad I got it driving at least as it means motivation is at acceptable levels/high enough to open up the wallet once more to fix it. Fun times ahead!
  19. Good news! Also good example of checking the basics first haha
  20. Late to party but yep, A series. If it’s in a Morris minor I’m getting Dane to ban you.
  21. Sounds like progress! As an aside, I have had bad results using the Mobil ethanol blend on older cars/one bad experience so don't bother anymore.
