Shit. Removed carb rack, all gunked up inside with white oxide crap. Cleaned and reinstalled. fired her up without airbox being collected. Running sweet.......until............ PETROL is being blown out of the crankcase.....WTF????? Only thing I can surmise is that the old carbs have been leaking fuel past the needle valves and its running past the rings. So drained the sump, out came BRAND NEW oil mixed with approximately 4l of gas. Have left it in the shed with fuel in the tank as a test to see whether tthe fuels escaping or not. ALSO scored another petrol cap LOCALLY for $15.....Stoked......

Datsun ute diff wise what you want is a 4.4 out of a SD22/23 powered 720. i had one of these diffs in mine with L18sss and 5 speed ala 910. about 2500rpm in 5th at 115km iirc.

They will be there, probably very shallow. you may need to sand the inner guard to find them....they aren't always obvious
