  1. Probably because it would be a large amount of mucking around to get copies of the paperwork which would serve no purpose for the owner, the cert paperwork doesn't mean anything on its own to anyone but the certifier and lvvta In 12 years I've only had one person ask to see the paperwork for a car I certified and it was a wof guy who wanted to know every single modification to the engine on an rx7 so he could make sure it was the same as when I fitted the cert plate 2 days earlier. We don't list every single modification as its not necessary, so getting a copy of paperwork isn't going to make a difference
  2. Decided I needed a bike with a bigger engine, so I bought myself a Christmas present today, picked it up then rode around in the rain trying to find a testing station with an inspector that did bikes Passed wof no problem, got home and removed the dumb massive windscreen thing , my 7yo called it a 'nerd bike' It's a 1997 piaggio /vespa px150 . 4 speed box which is quite odd to use.
  3. often if there isn't enough room in the relevant part of the plate they will put further info in the "exemptions" part, so it doesn't have an exemption for those things, in that case its just another box to put more info in. cars that have a full cage will have 'authority card required" in that box, hot rods with no guards will have "nzhra fender exemption required", etc
  4. not that I can remember, done a couple of RRS kits in falcons, otherwise most people seem to go for lowered springs/ good shocks and that's it
  5. Also pays to check the upper ball joint on slammed falcons, especially when the bumpstop is shortened. Often they run out of travel and the joint binds, some aftermarket ones are particularly bad. Shelby drop mod makes it worse and also gives more bump steer on the ones I've checked
  6. I put a set of headers with similar blue paint (pacemaker?) on a previous car I had, taking no care to avoid scratches thinking the blue paint would burn off as soon as I started it Paint stayed on for as long as I owned it complete with rough guy scratches
  7. Yes I think that would be fine if there is plenty of material left around the new taper
  8. Would have to talk to the certifier who is going to do the job
  9. I think the legal answer is yes it would need re certification if the power is increased by 50% If it was certed with a completely standard 302 then the plate will say 'ford' under engine make. But If the engine was modified, it will say 'ford mod' If you put a modified engine in, and the plate says 'mod' and the induction matches, ie still carburettor if that's what it was certified with originally then you would probably get away with it because the plate would be the same even if you got it re certed
  10. yes if the overall diameter is similar, no rub etc
  11. yes, if they fall within the wof threshold rules yes yes if they are similar ish sizes, ie you wouldn't be able to cert a set of 13x7 and 20x8
  12. yes, vehicle mods should match what the plate says it has on it for wof
  13. Well the fuel usage is better. Worked out to be 13.8l/100km now. Also it ran it's best time at the drags with this engine, 14.2@94mph It still has a problem which only shows up at the drags, which i avoided by shifting at 5k. If i rev it any harder it gets the splutters . I thought it was fuel supply issues but now I think the lifters are pumping up . When I put it together the block was decked 40 thou plus the heads had a little skim. I took a punt on the stock pushrods still working, but they are longer than ideal. I would also like to get a distributor with a vac advance back on it to help with economy some more Here's a pic of a skid I stole from the drag day thread, just so I'm not a boring fuel efficiency nerd
  14. Depends what it is. If something was certed, and that has not been modified any other way since, and the re cert was for a different aspect of the car, then the previously certified bits don't have to be changed to meet the rules of today. However if something shouldn't have been certified the first time, we have to fail it. Example Little Johnny has a cefiro certed for adjustable suspension, an rfb20det and camouflage door cards. Johnnys 20det got a case of the nungers after racing his mates s14 so he put a 25det from a honestly not stolen r33 that his mate jayden got off Facebook marketplace. If we do a cert check for Johnny and his suspension is all the same as the previous cert plate, but it has a little bit too much camber, because it was certed prior to that being a requirement, then we don't have to fail it, or the camo door cards. We just have to check the engine. However little Johnny has cut and welded his steering arms shorter with his uncles gasless mig for more hectic drifts . Johnny claims it was like that last time it was certed. This was never allowed so that would have to be failed, even if the previous cert covered it.
  15. LVVTA is having a Christmas sale on construction manuals $77 for the online version.
  16. If it has dumb wheels when it gets certified, cert plate will state 'dumb wheels fr+r' Have to cover all mods present on the vehicle at time of inspection
  17. If it is all complete from a donor and you can prove it is the correct shaft, you don't need to fit loops. https://lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_07-2016_Drive-shaft_Safety-loop_Requirements.pdf Exclusions/notes at bottom
  18. Have a good look at the chassis where the steering box bolts on, have seen a couple rust/crack there
  19. If it meets this , yep. https://lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf
  20. Might be different at testing stations? It is recorded on Landata. All the people referred to me for plate removal have been to vinz/aa/vtnz etc
  21. Not currently, but it's in the works apparently. Knowing what the standard height was , is one of the issues they are working on.
  22. It had a reasonable amount of soot in the intake when I removed the throttle body which seems like a yuck thing for it to breathe in. It does idle slower now as well. This is interesting reading on the subject https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_gas_recirculation
