  1. On the topic of rangi fixes I heard about these guys who were drilling holes in a worn balljoints and injecting araldite into them.
  2. Na the lower arms were made by Abarth back in the 80's, the only part still avalible is the bushings that go in the other end.
  3. Sweet cheers for the responses. I gave Bricon a call and they quoted $120+gst.
  4. Pulled the Stradas lower arms out in the weekend and after 180,000k the joints appear to be well flogged out. Who reconditions ball joints? How much?
  5. Hey brad, what injectors and fuel rail did you use on your throttle body manifold?
  6. Hey was wonder what the deal is with getting flanges water cut by an engineer. Can I just give them a USB stick with Prodesktop file of my flange design? Or is it better to give them a blue print drawing of what I want? I havent used Prodesktop in about 3 years so it would be faster for me to just draw it.
  7. What product did you use for the underseal it looks like it came out mint! What prep did you do for it?
  8. Yeah, have to do something to keep up with your Gemini! Im moving into a place that has a garage so I will have a heap more time to muck round on with the Strada. I will have to pop by and have a squz at whats going on with your EFI setup. Im going to run the surge tank under the car though. I will probably be looking at a G3 or a G4 atom. What does wasted spark mean? Im assuming there are a few setups that I can do, what are they and there pros and cons Tom - Correct it is for the Strada those 40mm Solexs just arent doing that engine justice, the ignition does have a sensor on the end of the crank but there is only one notch on it. Not sure how well 25 year old tech will intergrates with a Link. Might have to replace with the trigger wheel like in your picture, if I do that I may as well get the Link to run ignition too. Cheers for the help guys.
  9. Cheers for the reply, all this stuff is pretty new to me. The car already has electronic igntion in it. Its old but it still runs a decent 3D map. Eventually I will convert it out but for the mean time Im keen just to get the ECU running the fuel side of things. Im using Blacktop 45mm quads with the factory TPS. Im after a late model Link, one that can plug into a laptop, any recomendations? Can they run the factory Toyota TPS sensor? Not sure about the triger wheel on the crank, does it need one notch on it to tell it when to fire the injectors? Ive heard you can use an ABS sensor as the sensor for this?
  10. Hey Im converting my car from carb to EFI. I want to wire in a Link ECU to run just the fuel injectors. What do I need to add to make the ECU work? TPS? Oxygen sensor? Trigger wheel? All the fueling is sorted I just need to know what controls the injectors. Cheers.
  11. Just out of curiosity doesn't that coilover need another ring/nut on the threaded tube to lock the one that the spring sits on?
  12. Engine reco shops will hone it for round $60 bucks.
  13. These guys did a front brake conversion with Punto GT parts. http://www.abarth-racing.dk/frontbrake.php Stradas are also called Ritmos some parts manuals have them listed as either. Mal at http://www.fiatparts.co.nz will be able to help you out with new parts. When it warms up do the electric fans go on? There is a sensor screwed into the radiator that craps out and stops the fans from coming on.
  14. Brakes on them always feel a bit shit on them because it was built as a LHD car and left the brake booster on the other side. All they did was put a rod from the brake peddle to the booster, so peddle feeling isn't the best. While your there replace the brake fluid, mine was half fluid and half water when I did mine. Brakes felt heaps better after. Th130 on here is Terrry he should be able to hook you up some 130tc from brakes/hubs and suss some Uno turbo/Delta turbo rear disc brakes for you. That will make it stop well enough. You may need a Booster out of a 130tc as well because it has a bigger diameter booster than the 105tc. Punto GT stuff doesn't fit.
  15. Awesome! That morrie 180sx conversion must be catchin on.
  16. Yeah cant wait to get it on the Dyno, this engine has been in the works for over a year now. Hopefully by next weekend it will be in the car running in. Im after about 170hp but depends how shit/awsome those 48's are going to be. Yep, thats my problem too.
  17. Yeah I wanted it all to be billet but they didnt have them with the drive on the end for the spark. However XSRPM's cams were regrinds and they have survied ok. I think I will get an 7500 - 8000rpm limiter. Yeah standard double valve springs which were tested by Dwight while the head was done. He said they were fine. Tom pretty much summed it up, I am amazed that only one got a small hit considering they sit right at the front of the engine bay. He hit tree which was about 2 or 3 metres in diameter pretty much head on at 130kph. Before I could remove the carbs from Staceys car I had to use a hacksaw to cut away some of the bodywork that was smashed up against them. The funny thing was LTSA were using that area to film an advertisement the 'drivings in the blood' commercial the next day. Its that great big tree at the end of the ad. Apparently they had to sweep all the glass and paint the tree brown to replace the bark that got embedded in XSRPM. But yeah XSRPM was probably one of the fastest Stradas around. Anyone who had gone for a ride in it can back that claim. edit: Hmm yes I would like the LSD. However Staceys already got a Punto GT in the works which that LSD was orginally for. Only the crown wheel was custom made to fit the Stradas box, I would have to buy another LSD and put the crown wheel on. So not sure whats happening with it at the moment.
  18. Right update time, Ive got the Strada from the panel beaters, now its awaiting the new engine. Have been spending countless nights in the garage after work getting this new engine back together. With a lot help from Stacey putting it together; couldnt have done it without his expertise and Mal for the parts. Cheers guys! Here is some pics of the progress: This is the block we are using, completely stripped down, cleaned and inspected. New oil pump and oil drive gear went in too. Stacey putting in new main bearings. Inspected the crank which was in good condition Gave the block a good hone with a flexi hone so the new rings would have something to bed to. We went through 3 other sets of pistons before coming across these minters. The first set I got were from a Regatta, however only the early model Regattas had the high dome pistons and I had the later ones with the smaller dome. So those were put back on the shelf. Then there were two sets of 105tc pistons which weren't bad but I wanted this engine to be perfect. We then got these 105tc pistons from Mal which were in very good condition. When we first got hold of these they were covered in carbon so we couldn't tell if they were in good condition or not. However after cleaning them up they came up looking brand new! These combine with the skimming of the head should raise compression to approx 11:1. These are standard Abarth 130tc rods with new bearings This stump is baffeled and was orginally from one of the three race prepared Strada's from the 80's. I think they used to race in the Benson & Headges series in New Zealand. I was going to use these weber 45's from the late XSRPM however one of them didnt survive the impact too well. So I went with these Dellorto 48's, maybe a bit to big for the engine but we wont know for sure till its running We had a bit of drama with the cams as the billet ones that were made for it didn't have the distributor drive on the intake side. So we had to send back the original intake cam to be splatter welded and reground. As a result it has a billet exhaust cam and a reground intake cam. Also added some adjustable cam wheels to the mix. Setting clearance was made easy by Dwights excellent work all the shims used were in 1/10th of a mm of each other. Another bouns was that all the shims used were on the thinner side keeping weight down. The head was Port and polised by Dwight at Leading edge, he also skimed the head and cambox surfaces and 3 angle valve grinds. Here is a picture of the uprated headgasket (top) compare to a standard one. Hard to tell from the photo but they are quite different. Got the pistons in the bore. AS it stands now.
  19. I think you need a wideband O2 sensor to get an accurate reading? Most cars I think only have narrow band sensors.
  20. Check the electrical connection on the end of the pressure sensor, could be lose?
  21. Oh hey carbon fiber...... http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... hp?t=87897 KGC10 Hakosuka Skyline http://www.performanceforums.com/forums ... t=67227917
  22. Ask this guy if he still has the turbo engine from the city turbo he's breaking. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 336371.htm The decals look sweet on this. Edit: fuck I read that auction wrong, he only has turbo bumpers, meh
  23. Hold the other end of the crank with a spanner to stop it moving then get someone else to use a power bar to remove the flywheel bolts.
