  1. A messy method - using plain water - is to get it up to pressure, without the thermostat in. Find some waste ground and take the rad cap off. Quick release in pressure can do a good job dislodging the stuck shit. Take some water to refill after it's all cooled down (: Just run quick...
  2. The fluid must be somewhere... look for puddles / drums filled with fluid??
  3. Isn't this a group 1 manifold for 44 IDFs?? Had a set back in the day. Made a huge performance change on my RS2000, but the carbs went out of balance by the end of the street. EDIT. see http://www.capriracing.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=248 Mind you, this is an aftermarket IDF manifold, as mine took account of the angle of the engine, whereas these mount the carbs at the same angle as the engine.
  4. I was hoping someone would mention this... I am a total idiot when it comes to this. So it doesn't matter whether it's AC or DC then? A 10A circuit breaker is 10A for 12V DC as well as 240V AC?
  5. Thanks heaps folks. Where can I find more out about these auto resetting ones?
  6. I'd really like to do this, but at the moment all I can find are aircraft quality ones at c. $50 each! 9 http://www.msel.co.nz/epages/motorsport ... reakers%22 ) Any ideas where i can get them cheaper? I really don't need this quality!!! Cheers, Steve
  7. Problems I've had with pinto starting: 1. 12V supply to the coil fell off = massive voltage drop on cranking 2. Starter fucked = massive voltage drop on cranking 3. Carb needed rebuilding - especially float height resetting 4. Fuel pump knackered ( including a perfectly fine one but the piston on the cam was worn real short. 5. Filters - rust in the tank.

Spending $3-5k to save $100 a month for a vehicle you will sell soonish would make me cringe even more than watching KKK lick his own balls in a children's sandpit SWMBO does the books for a garage specialising in LPG. He's giving up because it's impossible to get legal kit reliably ( supplier is on Oz ), and can't import directly. With the new stuff, high mileage motoring was cheaper, with little power loss. But like you say UJ, it's gonna take a hell of a long time to pay for itself... even without the supply problems.
  9. go the old Mk.1 works escort route and fit hillman imp side/turn lights? New lights will only do main/dip, not sides.
  10. Early 1300 Sports ( like the one I had ) had the most basic interior possible - rubber mats no carpets, etc. It had a rev counter on a stalk top right of the standard 3 dial cluster.
  11. Looking good! Can you still get fishnet recaros?
  12. Hi Chris, Yes, it's better, no it's not right. Am chatting with Mr. Archibald as we speak. May need to see if you can get them but am still hopeful. What's this about fantapants tho???
  13. Thanks Chris. You're worth these recommendations.
  14. Engine earth strap stuffed. Set fire to a GS club when I melted the hydraulic suspension lines in the same situation.
  15. Hey, got new toy, needs at least rear wheels balancing. Any recommendations in Chch??
  16. Saw a very tidy blue bubble arched mk 1 Mexico this morning. Belong to anyone here??? Makes a change from the weirdo with dozens of Marinas (:
  17. All my RS2000's had return lines on them, with a restrictor on the return line. Both in and out were marked with an arrow pointing outwards, but if you connected them the wrong way around it would idle but not run.
  18. It's the pressure relief valve isn't it??
  19. http://www.vulcanengines.com/brochure/index4.htm Just get VP15. Even with postage it's surely less than $250.
  20. I've had the pressure relief valve on a kent jam open = no pressure. Upgrade to a high capacity one? At least they're external!
  21. Castrol GTX 20-50? Mineral based, right consistency... Castrol R for the smell??
