  5. never had a problem with it (sidevalve with so she spits a bit of oil from factory) other than the "thermostat" housing (doesnt have a thermostat) corroding through, so thats replaced. and the dissy springs and weights being gummed up so the advance was all out to wack until i figured out that was the problem and cleaned them. oh and the engine mounts were rubber and had collapsed but yea no actual problems with the engine

  11. what you can do with worn syncros (tho this is of no use to you im sure) is "borrow" the syncro from another gear (also helps when your 1st and reverse are straight cut) for example - when putting it in first you would move the gearstick halfway into 2nd to get the syncro lined up - then wack it into 1st

  19. yuh, with this new oring chain it should last pretty much forever. am yet to find a chain lube that actually sticks to the chain and not the tyre tho
  20. christ i still have this POS have done roughly 10,000 kms since taking ownership of this black beast (end of march) and it definitely shows as i have never cleaned it gave most of it a brush down with kero today (namely the back half as that required further work) Was fitted with a standard no oring chain, which by this point was as stretched as adjustment would allow. So i ordered a new chain and sprocket kit this morning, which arrived at about 3.30 this afternoon at my doorstep (free postage even). just need to pick up a couple of bolts for the chain adjusters and il be operational again. also i need a new rear tyre, anyone goot a deal on a 16 inch tyre?
