  1. I need a new piece of hose in my PS system, connecting the reservoir to the pump. Stopped at BNT today and asked for something to suit (3/4" or 19mm). They went out the back and sold me 0.5m of something black. Went to fit it just now and realised that its Dayco heater hose which is (naturally enough) not rated for oil contact. Grrr. Any idea where I can get something useable? I've been to a Hydraulink place before, but they sold me some high-pressure steel reinforced hose which is a bitch the seal up to the nipples.
  2. I've been told it can cause rusting of nearby steel due to vapour escaping the container. I keep it in a garden shed, on a metal shelf though. Don't use it inside either - nasty fumes. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/a-downside-to-muriatic-acid.813794/
  3. Sounds like you got a good rogering! Good work that man.
  4. Have you got a multimeter to check that there is 12V at the coil? Also, remove the distributor cap (usually held down by a couple of clips) and check that the points are opening and closing as the engine cranks.
  5. You can buy Muriatic Acid (another name for hydrochloric) at hardware stores - used for concrete cleaning. I have that I use for getting rust or zinc plating off steel. It's nasty though, need gloves and goggles, and don't store it in your garage.
  6. Have to take our son back to school Sunday week. Will have wagon.
  7. Thermal lining. Pm me your address and I'll drop them off
  8. I've got some semi-decent thermal lined blue curtains if you want them.
  9. 1. On my cert plate the measurements are from the hub center. 2. Yes, it should. There is a VIRM section on this IIRC.
  10. Reworked the fuel pump setup a bit, added a proper filter. Needed a mount adapter plate. The other pump is a spare got for $20, after paying a lot more for the shiny one. I bought a few proper NPT (instead of BSP) fittings in the USA, so I could get rid of some ugly plumbing. Also used the Permatex #2 on the the fitting threads to prevent leaks - the pump instructions say not to use sealers, but they leak otherwise! Back under the car. The clip leads were for a pump test run.
  11. In case you don't remember what it looks like in one piece....

  13. Tried it out in the rain yet? Sold the camper-matic we got from the MIL a few years ago because it always got wet inside, towing, sitting, camping.
  14. It's only the ultimate pass posers who need to get in on day one isn't it?
  15. So, what's the idea of it's behaviour in a quake - does the house/foundation slide around on the compacted base layer?
  16. Does this apply to hydraulic clutch masters too? Mine is under the floor, and under the seat. Easy enough to check on a lift

  18. There's a couple just up the road from here. NFS though
  19. Wow, that's a project and a half! Amazing how workers being paid to do a job can do so much damage! Our house is a relocated one, but handled by the previous owner. Quite a bit of the re-joining is a bit hack, but it hasn't fallen apart yet.
  20. Won't make it this month (tomorrow). Too much to do / kid @ home this week.
