  2. falcon 4ltrs are good for acting like that with a manifold leak. use brakeclean around the manifold and see if the revs pick up at all and if it is EFI, clean the air flow meter if its a hot wire one and what sort of air filter does it have? oiled filters can mess with a AFM's i vote, that whatever gsr it is, tell your sister its fucked and she should sell it to me for a couple hundy if shes in the north island

  4. have you tryed pulling the thermostat out and just putting a hose in the top of the radiator and running water through the engine and out the top radiator hose (thats disconnected at the radiator) until the water runs clear? also, you might find that moving all that rust out could cause leaks
  5. UJ wins if its spinning and not turning the motor then its not engaging copied this from some random site (mrfixit.com) On a bench test, the negative battery jumper cable goes to the vice that is holding the starter by the frame. The Positive goes to the "big terminal" on the solenoid. Jump from the big terminal to one of the smaller ones with a jumper wire or a screwdriver blade to actuate the solenoid. It should click and the starter should whirrrrr. If it does, don't get carried away and let it spin freely for a long time - it's not good to run a starter with no load for extended periods of time, especially an old and tired one. If it doesn't spin, look for another "big" wire going into the starter. On GMs you can usually see it at the other end of the solenoid - it goes into the body of the starter. I'm not sure about other makes and models. Look around. Carefully touch the + jumper cable to it and the starter should immediately whirrrr and you should get a good sized spark - that is normal - the starter is a heavy current eater. If you get no whir from that test then the starter motor is fried inside. You can take it apart and see if it is fixable (new brushes, a clean-up of the commutator and possibly new windings, but at that point I would suggest a rebuilt starter/solenoid assy. If the starter did whir on the last test then you can remove the solenoid and either rebuild it or replace it, the later being a good idea. The new starter will come with a new or rebuilt Bendix drive which is probably next in line for failure.
  6. tell cecil that you'll have it fixed before the next wof all u rotorua peeps know what im talking about..
  7. im not sold on the 4age thing, especially when pintos are so easy to put in there and fairly easy to get power out of. plus aftermarket 2nd hand parts for a pinto are way cheaper then for a 4age
  8. aswome looking cars I had a ke20 2 door sedan, fuck i loved it. decided to strip it down one day, the whole car was full of rust sold it to escorta i think, for sweet fuck all
  9. if your going non-turbo then i would just go for a pinto with a 205 block or ca18de, if your going turbo then i would go ca18det. and theres lots of info/projects with pintos and ca18s in eskys on oldschool and both sorts of engine/gearbox are cheap as
  10. i have one, just let me know when u need it so i can grab the airhose and fittings off my mate
  11. so the popo let me weigh the mitsi, 1240kgs with half a tank and me in it took all the rubish out the car and other shit i have horded and left in there, weighed it all and then weighed myself (64kgs) took all that weight off except the weight of the fuel, and it weighs 1139.6 kgs, not bad for such a big car. also, what do you mitsi guys think about the idea of chucking some factory duel carbs and manifold on it? (was told there from a 70's gto with a 2.6, am thinking me might have ment celeste or something along those lines).
  12. i was laughing all day that day. found some lucus spotlights in the garage, thoughts on putting them on it? also i want to get a manual box for it, how do i tell if it is a wideblock or not from the chassis numbers? it has 54b29065 on it and also gh2p29lb1802707? and last of all, these almex mags have been steering me down for the last six months, recon they would suit the mitsi?
  13. take it to a trans shop and get them to flush it and change the fluid, then adjust up the bands and hope that that fixes it, ( could also get the filter replaced if one is avalible) i know of a guy who has a 2500tc auto trans in his garage if you need another one
