  1. shit, had to go to page 4 to find this, your celica's are on page 3 too, more updates ftw!!!!! must be sad to see it go but a MS5* crown coupe????? awesome!!!!! is this the bare metalled one that was on trademe a couple of years back??? was missing some interior shit like seatbelts and didn't have any glass in it???? love that shape crown, especially the coupes. if you ever want to sell that give me a call, more than likely i'll sell everything for it. wanted to pick it up back then but i think i had 5 cars at the time, 2 of them pre 77 celicas and it would have just rusted away to be honest. anyway, new build thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or at least some teaser pics in random photo's. oh yeah, the guy that bought my TA23 is selling it on again if you know of anyone thats looking????? fag has decided he wants an rx3. he's wanting 2.5 and its a definite project. i can give more details if you know anyone interested. cheers Matt
  2. MG centre fit in wood steering wheel???? IMO momo one doesn't suit as good, wheel and knob look heaps better though. cool car, i like nifty little topless sports cars. cheers Matt
  3. not sure about the fuel cut solenoid, it never used to overrun when i first had it though, its only a recent thing. idle doesn't seem too high, haven't really taken much notice yet but its well below 1K will check for solenoid, how do you test those fuckers??? just listen to see if its opening/closing??? cheers Matt
  4. yeah, i was thinking about a carb tune but 'experts' told me it would be timing. overfuelling would have other symptoms besides the overrunning too, especially a bit of smoke and its not showing anything like that. only time it smells like fuel is when you get out just after its overran. it must be running too hot as well to overrun because its basically dieseling, there's no source of spark so the only thing igniting the fuel is the heat in the combustion chamber. correct timing should reduce the temp which would (hopefully) prevent this. does this all sound right???? i've done a shit load of work on heavy diesels but my petrol carb theory isn't completely up to scratch so just throwing my thoughts out there. cheers Matt
  5. been doing this for a while, its been suggested its something to do with the timing. i've got a timing light, just not sure what i should set it too. its a stock 3Y (2 litre) with a weber carb and a 2 and a 1/4 exhaust. i've got a manual but its in storage until i find a house and i want to fix this as its pissing me off. also wondering if the carb and exhaust should affect the timing. or any other reasons it might be doing it???? cheers, Matt
  6. how comfortable are those seats???? i've been looking for something with no headrests for my ute so i can lean them back a little further, single cab's FTL for tall people plus interior looks mint!!!! cheers Matt
  7. yeah, nice man. got a bit of a soft spot for starions for some reason. those wheels look pretty sweet on it. cheers Matt
  8. just realised when i saw this thread that i do know someone with a marina, there's one sitting at Mangere pick a part (Auckland), didn't have a good look but if you need some parts i might be able to have a look this sunday when i go up. i'm guessing you've got heaps anyway, just thought i'd mention it. cheers Matt
  9. yeah, cool man. always been a fan of the 2 doors ever since a mates missus had one for he daily, just stock on hubcaps and tidy as, looked mint. she stacked it good though, apparently brakes weren't all that. plus wtf, thats a funny looking mitsy +1 good score for free, i reckon you'll get sick of daily driving that pretty quick though, slow as fuck. as for the resident negative on other peoples car guy, meh. good on you for always saying what you feel cheers Matt
  10. oh yeah, Al, i compared the lip diameter on the inners and outters of my wheels today and they're the same (the old setup, not the new one), is that what you meant????? what sort of wheels did you use???? maybe its just cause its a different brand and a different setup. cheers Matt
  11. the volks/rays ones they've got a pattern on them and you can just put an imperial socket on which locks them up. not a perfect fit but didn't slip on any of them. cheers Matt
  12. lol, i was going to put them together just to hang on the garage wall but the back bits of the valves come into contact with the other piece of the wheel so it doesn't work. + took them in to a mag wheel repair place to get straightened up today, a bit more expensive than i was hoping but they're still going to work out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a 2nd hand pair of 15x10's. cheers Matt
  13. cheers for the info mate, shit. sounds like a mission. lucky i've got heaps of spare time at the moment, f*cking 36 bolts per wheel FTL!!!!!!! cheers Matt
  14. right, ended up buying the wheels, decided they were perfect for what i wanted them for anyway and i picked them up from the guys old man so couldn't really haggle. meh, dents were right, will be taking them to a mag wheel repair place tomorrow to try and get them out, shouldn't be too much of a major. pics: as they came, tires were in better condition than mentioned, will keep 2 of them since they're definitly in wof condition, have ditched the other two as they had some serious skid damage on them: first things first, remove tyres, dismantle all 4, make up 2 super wide (heaps more than i was expecting) wheels using the inners from all 4: not sure on exact dimensions, seem to be about 10.5 inches wide from bead to bead, just under 11 total. good 5.5 inches dish FTW. getting the dents taken out then i'll take them apart again, clean them up, install valves, put them back together with sealant (any suggestions????) and find some tyres. OTHER SKIDLINE NEWS: think i may have blown the head gasket, its in storage at the moment because i've got nowhere to work on it so the Ute is my daily again. also got an electrical problem thats taking out pretty much everything electrical when i turn the lights on, will properly investigate once its out of storage. cheers Matt
  15. couldn't be fucked finding your bluebird thread, those x8's on your bluebird, did you make them up from a couple of pairs of 3 piece wheels or something????? reason being i'm currently trying to make up some decent width/offset wheels from the 4 15x6's volk's/rays i got for the skidline, i've already separated one so i know they're 3 piece, was planning on using the inners from all 4 wheels to make 2 wide wheels and just find another pair of normal width mesh wheels for the front. any reason this won't work???? looks like i've got some serious polishing to do too, might make the wheels up first then take them somewhere with a lathe, get them to give them a quick polish while its spinning, save my elbow grease for stick mags..................
  16. looking real good, holy shit a finished project, i didn't know there was such a thing. saw it yesterday at the meet, i was just leaving when you were cruising in, had to get my beer on with some old mates so couldn't stick around too long. almost turned around to go back for a look when i saw it though, sure i'll see it around sometime anyway. cheers Matt
  17. is it me or didn't you already paint this................... meh, looking good anyway, and where's a build thread for that hilux in the random pics thread, plus you need some round lights and a steel bumper for it. and bags. like this one: cheers Matt
  18. rxtoy

    rca's how big?

i made up a set for my EX lancer, not too difficult to make if you're handy with a mill and you've got a decent drill press. mine were 2 inches, definitly helped out heaps with bump steer and had clearance with 15 inch wheels. in a perfect world your bump steer spacers (RCA's, whatever) would be the same length that you had lowered your car by, this would return your steering geometry to factory position. problem is for most of us it would also put the lower arm way too close to the ground. meh, 2 inches was heaps for my car and that was stupidly low, wouldn't go that low again in an EX. cheers Matt
  19. i am so jealous right now, love 2 door 131's, probably my favourite euro. cheers Matt
  20. still got to go and see the guy because he didn't contact me for over a week and i haven't been near waihi since, will be going past on the weekend so will give him a call and check them out. cheers Matt
  21. looking good man, nice progress. we're having a http://www.minitruckin.co.nz cruise over new years, meeting up at the bombays on the morning of the 30th, cruising over to whangamata then down to katikait that night, staying on a section on papamoa on the 31st and down to ohope beach for a day or two after that. if you're keen on coming along for the whole thing or just meeting up for a cruise one of the days feel free, there's more details in the events section on the MTNZ forums or if you just show up come and say hello, i'll be the guy in the roughest ute there, 88 multicoloured hilux. cheers Matt
  22. damn, time to turn the 'given up on the celeste' curse around. plans sound good, looking forward to seeing what happens to it. cheers Matt
  23. that must be a hell of an interesting starlet, triangulated 4 link and disc brakes on a hilux diff. don't suppose you know more about the brake setup??? and if the springs and the seats are exactly the same and fit before then the springs must have shrunk, as unlikely as it seems. either that or something got mixed up, either seats or springs. cheers Matt
  24. is it going into a 1200 or 1600???? looks like an EX1800 diff to me, i know it will fit 1600 springs and car but maybe 1200's use smaller springs???? cheers Matt
  25. could be, whats the ratio's and what price??? planning a manual conversion sometime after new years and hoping for the 3.78 or whatever it is that goes with the manual box. quite gutted to hear that the wheels are buckled, might not follow through on the sale if thats true. he still hasn't bothered contacting me either, wonder why his feedback is -1 not too worried about the width, was expecting 6.5 and hoping for more. you remember if the centres could be flipped???? cheers Matt
