  1. Just run straight ATF dexron 3 or a GL4 75w85. Depends what the "shockproof" additive is thats in it, but half the time its LSD additive which makes shifting harder. LSD additive is slipperier = syncros not working so good. Use a GL4 not GL5 for better shifting. If you want the best oil for warn syncros go with a multi purpose tractor trans/hydraulic oil. Normally called an Agri super or somthing. It has a wet brake additive which bites in better. Just dont tell anyone you are using it on the road as its illegal apparently. Has no colour.
  2. I think a read recently also that the later model falcons, XE/XF onwards had a larger front swaybar standard. Went from 22mm to 25mm or somthing like that. Look into that for a possibly cheap upgrade. Using the XG/XH steering boxes is good too. They have a needle roller bearing in the top of the case instead of the useless bronze bush that wears in about 10,000km and gives all that slop when straight ahead.
  3. With the shelby drop, need to be careful with top ball joint bind and snapping off if you are lowering it as well. Main issue is that the after market ball joints dont have as much articulation as the factory ford ones. If you can find Ford ones you will be sweet. other option is slightly modifying the top arms to change the ball joint angle. Thats what im going to do on the XE. You used to be able to buy a "mustang ball joint wedge kit" that corrected the ball joint angle also. it seems they are not made any more/you could make it yourself i guess. It sounds like the shelby drop does make a good difference. Edit - Adding spacers to the top bracket thing for the strut seems to work well also. Ive added 25mm to mine and i think Lee has the same on his falcon. Edit #2 - Noticed in your build thread that you already have...
  4. Driveline in Rotorua. Does a fair bit of racing/rally cars etc.
  5. Found this. Works well. Is just channel 7 stream. https://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/17174742/yahoo-7-live-brisbane/
  6. VIP box is my go too for anything like this. Works well. Dont need to download anything.
  7. Was great to catch up with everyone!!. Bring on next month. Have found that having the meets earlier means people cant make it in time after work/we have a few guys out of town. We can try it earlier if it proves a better turnout.

  10. ^ Yup, hows this Thursday sound for everyone? Make it regular. Last Thursday of each month?
  11. If a weekend works better for people then we can make that work. Most important is to have enough people. Everyone's input is welcomed.
  12. Never had a booster in my green lancer when i used to track it, was much better than having a booster. harder to lock up, better feel etc. I think for smaller cars its all good. if you have low vacume, big cams etc they dont work right anyway. I think going to a smaller master is the way to go. Have to push the pedal further but its not as hard.
  13. If there is enough interest and members then we will do something. Who else is keen? Could make it first Thursday of each month if that is better for people. Summers around the corner and would be great to do a few cruises out to the lakes/romantic picnics.
  14. Just pump plenty through it and should be all good. I sell shit loads of grease, at least 1000kg a month and am yet to have come across an issue. How many service shops do a grease and would know what was in their before?
  15. Really need to know what was in there in the first place, but surely its just a Multi purpose EP2 lithium based thing.
  16. Another small update. Did a bunch of the usual servicing this weekend. Its had a leak in the rocker cover for ages, was pretty bad really but i just couldn't be arsed doing it. having to take all the intake manifold off etc is never fun. It started to running a little rough the last week, so decided to jump in and do it, as well as new plugs and all that. This was the offending area of the cover here, hard to see but it was leaking bad, and the reason for the engine running rough was because the spark plug holes where so full of oil they where shorting out. Wow. So off came all the vacuum lines, plenum and a few other bits. Ok, so grabbed my allen key to start undoing the rocker cover bolts. Lose as shit bolts all along one side and the front. i would say that out of the 8 or so bolts, 2 of them where barely finger tight, the rest were lose by a good 5 or so threads and one was missing. Not surprised if it has rattled out. Explains the leak huh? Checked all the rockers etc, everything looked nice. Will be awhile before im back in there fingers crossed. New rocker gasket, intake gasket and it was just a reversal of the disassembly process. Followed promptly by a good drive and inspection afterwards. no leaks, and idles a lot better. Has much better vacuum at idle. These things are bad with running rough with even the slightest vacuum leak. Small things sometimes make all the difference. Pretty happy.
  17. May bring some wheels and a few bits to sell at swapmeat, it all depends if i bring passengers or not.
  18. Well, bit of an update. Ive done a few things to the coon, pretty much destroyed the exhaust on the way back from Cams party in Feilding the other week. Welded up the holes in the mufflers. Looks horrible but no leaks. Will be all good for now. Will be trying some air adjustable shocks in the rear to try rectify the issues with it getting so low with passengers. Its only really become an issue after installing a sub and amp in the boot. So...my mission for today was to rebuild the door hinges. Ive already replaced the drivers door handle after that decided to disintegrate. These doors are hell heavy and the hinge design is pretty poo. You end up having to lift the door with the handle to get it off the jam. hence the reputation of door handle breaking on these things. So, i had these turn up from Ozz, took for freaking ever. But YAY, finally. Old hinge disassembled At first i thaught that the old hinges were pretty good, looked ok and only had a small about of play, but then after getting the old bushes out. They where knackered. Hinges with new pins and bushes Removed the gaurds to get at the hinges better, also wanted to check for any rust as its a common area for these. no rust. Thats a bonus. While i had the doors off i noticed the drivers door had started to crack around where it bolts to the door, Was no point in leaving it so got to work at fixing. Cleaned up and welded the crack, then also added a plate over top as well. Should be alot better. Twice as thick now. Seen a few guys in Australia repairing these like this, but they do an ugly job, but it seems to work. Final product. Has turned out ok.
  19. Does the one in the middle of the of the manifold normally go to the rocker cover?
  20. 11l/100km is pretty good, thats about as good as i can get in my XE. Damn
  21. Shit, im gonna be stuck at work again, sorry guys
