  1. Odd how the width, not the height seems to be the critical factor in deciding how high the protrusion can be. I've bought a hillborn style scoop for the datto, but my intake is offset.
  2. Congrats with your 12's mate! That's really getting quite jolly fast indeed. Any plans for more boost?
  3. I bumped into the guy with the green VK commy at the pub yesterday arvo. He's turning 420hp at the rears, and has a pb of 11.4 secs. His is a top mount style set up. I think he's adapted a setup off some mustang V8. His even has an h20 to air exchanger in the manifold between the charger and the motor. As I understand it, the motor itself is completely standard. (Aside from the whopping great supercharger. His blower is a rear intake, Kinda top rear. And it has two intake pipes which curve around to two throttle bodies which a sequential. I asked him about if he might run one sweet sweet injectoin hat with butterflies through the bonnet. But he said it would be two hard to drive. It needed the sequential TB's otherwise the blower just got too much air, and made too much torque to be drivable/tunable for the street. If you take a gander on fleaBay, you'll be able to get an eaton charger SHITLOADS cheaper than a 6/71. Most "Cores" that you'll find cheaply, will be straight off trucks. They need quite a bit of work before they'll be bolt on and go on a petrol motor. And the blowers that have already had all that done are somewhat more pricey.
  4. I probably wouldn't use a 6/71. Something like a an M112, or an M122 would be heaps bettter suited. I dunno how many different toyota V8's there are, but a guy here in chch has a snot green VK commy, with an M112 fed toyota V8. Runs a turbohydromatic trans and a 9' diff. I think he's making around 360rwhp? (It's been a while since I've been drag racing, so I can't remember) BUt the car is very consistant. Although how fast it is escapes me atm. He's pretty fast though. About five or six years ago on trademe there was a guy selling a big lysholm screw blower off some mercedes V8. I think the price came down to about 1800 bux in the end. I woulda loved to have owned that.
  5. Argon is inert anyway. Just roll that shit like a boss. I always put the seatbelt round my 9kg lpg. That shit would turn into a skull crushing missile of death bringing-ness in a crash.
  6. hahahaha. despite having heard of double clutching, I don't actually know what it means. I don't see how it can be faster than just kicking the clutch pedal for an instant, and smashing the next cog.
  7. When I drained the oil, the lugs which drive the blocker rings came out with the oil. So for a good year or more, the blocker rings on 2-3 had been free wheeling. The whole way up to nats and back they were crunchy as fuck. So I just changed gears harder. Which is why the roll pin on the selector fork shore off I suspect.
  8. It's only the teeth on the blocker ring, not the actual gear itself. And when the selector ring is actually fully engaged, the "energiser lugs" (aka, those wee thingee's which fly out in all directions when you remove the selector ring) actually disengage from the blocker ring. While they dont allow the blocker ring to rotate, they do actualy release it from contact with the tapered synchro ring journal on the engaged gear itself.
  9. I have the gearbox from my datsun in one million peices atm. I've butchered a low kms four speed, to plunder the low kms gears, and synchro/blocker rings. I even sourced a manual with the correct pictures etc. (Much needed, since it's been almost 5 months since I tore it down) Anyhoo, I was talking to a bloke at work. He reckoned a mod they always used to do back in the day, was remove some of the "teeth" from around the outside periphery of the brass syncho ring. He was quite insistant that it made the selector ring more willing to go into gear, as less teeth means less resistance against the selector ring as it engages the next gear. He actually described it as being like "sucking" it into gear. He reckons it was a mod they always used to do to esky's. Now, I'm all for modifying shit to make it bigger better faster and more. And even a monkey like me could "cull" a few of those teeth. BUT, this is going to be the absolute last time I touch this gearbox. Also, I've never heard of this modification before. So, enlighten me with your pearls of wisdom, oh ye knowers of shit.
  10. PLease take lots pics. I'll be there in spirit.
  11. Waynes a Full blown GC. Ten times better than the alternative.
  12. I'm a little suprised that a blowthorugh would need the P/valve referenced. Although (Assuming the powervalve signal port on a BG is in the same place as a holley) it's possible the velocity of the air passing by the port might mean the p/valve chamber doesn't actually see an accurate boost signal? (I referenced the P/valve on the holley fitted to my supercharger)
  13. 14.5 is nice for cruising! Do you know what they did to your carb?
  14. Nice subframe connectors Clint. Dad has a VF hardtop with the roof removed. Some of those might be the order of the day for it too. How are the AFR's with your old carb back on? Does the exra boost make much of a difference?
  15. If I'm perfectly honest, I have no love for beddies. But I'm loving your work Alex! Your skills are wasted on this vehicle. Please buy another project more worthy of your talents. That aside, getting paid to do what you love must be a dream come true.
  16. Hemi, you're a fucking madman! Keep up the good work.
  17. I would just suggest a paintball gun. Non lethal. but extreemely painful. And if you're going to piss on a cat, be sure to feast on asperagus and barrocca 1st. I have three fucking cats. And even still we get other fucking cats spraying in the back porch. (Only in the mating season though)
  18. your goon needs a set of those repro 15x10 tridens! A val without tridens, is like a skank without a va-jay-jay. Just not right!
  19. Subway? Thats where I usually eat after a blast up thru the inland route.
  20. I have no suitable vehicles atm. But I could do by november. Should do by november.
  21. I'm keen as bean. My day pass will only be extended to an overnight pass on the provisor that there is cell coverage where we're staying. The mrs reckons it's getting a bit close to her due date.
  22. I'll be frantically trying to ready my car for a road trip 1st thing sat morning. So much to do, and so little time!
  23. The CHCH contingent would have to go via the inland route. I was planning to moot a trip that way soon anyway. I'm addicted to that road.
