  1. Just use stainless design did anyone get a price for wire cutting? would be interesting to see the cost
  2. I had a look and there aren't any bleed points, the expansion tank is the highest point. After looking at the setup though, I have a feeling I didn't tighten the cap on the expansion tank properly though. I thought it was an overflow tank so stopped tightening once the cap got slightly tight, but there is actually an O-ring on the cap which looks like it holds pressure, so I have now tightened the cap properly and we will see what happens. I let the car sit until it heated up and the radiator fan turned on at the right point and didn't get hot at all. So looks all good at this point
  3. Is there any type of lift that doesnt need a cert? just springs?
  4. so if it moves through its travel smoothly, and nothing fouls or rubs then its fine? It says to fail a wof if it shows welding after manufacture, but if I buy some cast aluminium spacers then theres no welding
  5. yeah I will check out the bleed points, I'm not used to this style of cooling system so didn't even think about these
  6. Hmm I’ll look into it, radiator doesn’t have a cap on it, it has some kind of expansion tank
  7. What’s the story with fitting spacers between strut tops and car body to lift a car? Can I fit some 2” blocks to jack a car up and not need a cert?
  8. hmm, fan seems to be working properly, need to wait and see if it does it again and see if fan is running, maybe there is an intermittent problem
  9. its an electric fan, I'll have to check its working/working properly
  10. Was parked in my car the other day, with the car idling looking at a map with the outside weather at about 30C. After about 15mins I saw the water temp had gone way up to the 'high' zone of the gauge, who knows what temp that might have been. Anyway, decided I should move and turned the AC up to hot and the temp dropped real quick back to the colder side of normal temp. After we got home I checked the oil and water levels and they were fine, but the air intake pipe had fallen to bits so realistically it was drawing in engine bay air. I have since ghetto rebuilt my intake hose so it should draw in from outside now, but I wonder if hot air intake air would make the water temp/general engine temps increase? /I have not checked to see if the radiator fan turned on, I will check that next
  11. I put some 100/90w bulbs into my escort as the headlights were garbage, made it heaps better
  12. TBH I have been living in the dark ages, I haven’t seen an automatically lifting saw
  13. could get a few of them laser cut from 5mm plate and stick/weld them together? The teeth don't need to be super accurate?
  14. good shit @DodgySam + others, need to get another intercooler plumbed in too!
  15. need to go via kawakawa bay too
  16. Those LED bulbs are great, but they are illegal for wofs because they smash light out everywhere, so need to swap them out at wof time. Full LED lenses look cool though, just need to get ones with DOT markings on them I think
  17. how is the sensor arranged with the magnetic float? I can only imagine a toothed wheel going past the sensor
  18. how do you carefully light it up? I've tried doing it before, but was way too scared to chuck heaps of petrol on it, so didn't get super good results
  19. good job with making so many of these things, but why do you keep making them? is it for mates or something? also, you should put the wajax motor into something else
  20. check thermostat is working too, I had one fail and car started getting real hot, didn't get to the point over water overflowing though
  21. If I were to only have one, it would be Mig, then tig. Mig is just a good all round solution, its not the best for everything, but easy enough to become reasonable at it, and it can weld 90% of stuff. I have a 180a mig, and while i have used it at max settings for welding 5mm to 5mm plate, I mostly use it in the middle/lower settings
  22. First one looks like what you want. Second one looks to be slightly more specialized as a higher use mig, although has smaller max wire size. Unless you are doing lots of continuous welding, you dont need to worry about that duty cycle, and if it is a problem, just wait 5 minutes before continuing welding/blow on it Bit of a pain they dont seem to have specs to properly compare models, although I suspect they have done that on purpose And you don't want to go near flux cored welding, its the devils poos. And some manufacturers have something called 'live wire technology' or something similar, which means that when used as a mig, the wire is always live, which you super dont want Best deal you will be able to find will be something second hand. And factor in the price of a decent helmet, gloves and a bottle
