Yeah just there are really difficult brackets on either end that had like 3 seized bolts on. They're moulded into the fibreglass or the fibreglass is built round them. I'm planning on replacing it with a new front bumper later on, not too worried about looks right now. haha

Well I drilled it thinking that would help get it off. And then I just gave up and decided it would just be best to leave it on and paint. haha

Hola amigos, It's been a while since I've been a part of the forum. Anyway I didn't seriously start learning how to drive til I had saved up enough and could afford my own car. Usually older than most. And my grandma used to taunt me about younger cousins getting their restricted and cars before me... Well now my Grandma's at her final resting place and I got a faster car than my cousins I got a few choice words for ya grandma!! jk I love my grandma but it's a shame I can't drive her round cos that'd be fun. Anyway first car was an 04 Suzuki Swift, while that was allgood for being normal and safe and economical it was an automatic cos back then I thought who wants to be effing round with gears at give way signs.. I used to get paid lessons as a teenager 4-5 years before getting money for my own car yeah parents didnt trust me/yelled too much.. got rid of that car after owning for a year. I bided my time between jobs and giving self employment a go I got a chance to rekindle my love for cars and eventually when I got the money I decided first priority would be a car. It had to be rear wheel driven manual and decently quick. With a modest budget of 3k I thought an MX-5 would be legit but I only really liked the British racing green NA that comes with tan leather interior nardi wood steering wheel and gear knob. I didn't want to pay 3 grand for any other mx-5. And my other favourite, the 190E (because the Evo Cossies just look the business and are mean as) only came in auto. I was thinking of going FWD and getting an Integra til I stumbled on the MR2 and decided that I'd check it out. At first I was intimidated being in the drivers seat and couldn't even drive manual so got it towed cross Auckland home. Til I got my first paid lesson from a guy who also was a car enthusiast, I was scared but his technical approach to driving was notches above any other instructor I got lessons from so I stuck with him, practiced driving at night, got restricted on black friday and the rest is history. Also been thinking if it's old school or not... I think it is, but seeing as this car was made from like 1990 - 2000(?) with minor cosmetic changes i.e. wings/wheels/tail lights and better engines/suspension design over time, then it isn't. And IMO It was a design ahead of its time looks wise, whereas cars from the same year from like France or Australia were still stuck in the 80s looks wise. And also when you take into account the oldness of oldschool cars on here I think this section is more appropriate. Since my ownership I've done: - clean air filter - change wipers and battery and gear knob shit - oil and filter change - coolant change - cleaned general gunk and slime - learnt how to detail, club member friend who details professionally taught me a few things - bought a set of wheels that had tyres too big so learnt lesson - painted front and rear bumper; had a crash with front, rear was peeling, albeit in the wrong shade, also learnt from mistakes with this What needs to be done? - tiny bits of rust** - new rubber, rear tyres getting bald and will most likely be Potenzas on the wheels I'm getting from Japan through Alex / ML Racing** - clutch is worn, not slipping (yet)** - pro respray, paintwork all over to red but a shade I like, car has been keyed by some fuckboy** - body kit, pro fitted** - engine swap, blacktop from Altezza, 1uz-fe, 2gr-fe, 2zz-gze** - headlight alignment and new bulbs** - need missing indicators for safety** Now for some pics.

Looks very nice. +1 for yellow Fords with brown interiors, a winning combo that is. Reminded me of Mighty Car Mod's Ford Meteor, interesting if Ford and Mazda had got together before 1981. Shit sorry now I'm calling your Mazda a Ford. The paint work is very good for its age and I suppose the centre caps were his babies because a lot of hoodlums have nothing better to do than thief em. Idk why. They must take them back to their friends and be like "hey g lets have a trade bo!" EDIT: Wikipedia says they did in 1979. Duh!

Haven't read newer posts/replies but can tell you I've heard of one crook who made a living out of stealing them plates from written off/wrecked cars and then grafting them on to stolen cars then on-selling them as legitimate. There's probably been more who have done that over the years.

have you found out what is wrong with it at low revs? If it's a high compression engine and sounds like knock/detonation, it may require 95 or 98 fuel and try an engine flush additive. I have a way different car with a high compression ratio, it'd make shitty sounds whilst in 1st gear and taking off. Now it only does that when I take off in 2nd for the lols. Or it could just be your cams are lumpy..

yo yo I really foam over air intake set ups that replace a head light/part of the headlights. Given that head lights are very important safety features of a car is there anyone who has had success with this in regards to LVVTA certification? I have read the lights section of the document but it would be nice to hear from those with first hand experience. Something like this:

When you say avoiding police attention, would you say cars with say 2.5"+ exhausts and too many decibels attract the 5-0?

Considering an LPG conversion?

I think it could work for a group, say a section of students of a school doing vocational automotive work, or registered members of OS or any car club, or say a University on-campus facility. Some sort of registration/admin/authority would go a long way to preventing hazards, because there is a lot of boring unsexy stuff that needs to be taken care of in terms of council shizuoka and legal this and legal that, OSH, etc. I'd definitely use facilities not just to work on my own car, as i am a relative noob, but also make friends and learn more about doing shizz But what happens if you turn up with a really sweet project car, any shady fellow or anyone who wants said car really badly is given the knowledge that you have that car and risk for that car getting stolen increases. Another reason to keep out the ninnys I'd like to keep the Fords on that side and the Holdens on the other side though

Don't get rid of it I see an old fella with his MGB cruising round Onehunga and Ellerslie quite a bit with his distinctive personalised plates, you could be his younger brother!

problem is bruv there's many of these other guys... seeing a car at night that is no taller than 1.3m... dark... and fairly old lights... easier to crash into than your run of the mill SUV.
