  1. Thanks for all the thoughts guys. Now I need a day when it isn't raining or blowing like forty bastards so I can look into it.
  2. It's always idled a bit high but it never bothered me. Not always evenly though. Sometimes idle speed will rise a bit just randomly for a while. I've always run 91 octane same as in my carby and throttle body injected coons. Serial coon driver since 2000. This is my fourth one and the others all ran sweet on 91.
  3. You believe the problem is electrical? Could well be. Probably should look at the dizzy cap first then? See if the contacts are eroded to nothing. That was the main problem when my XC started running on four cylinders. That and a couple of cracked spark plugs but the cracked plugs weren't always the ones not firing. What's the go with unclaimed impounds? Do they usually get tendered or is it considered not worth the hassle for shitters?
  4. Calling all the Falcon gurus out there. My 3.9 MPI coon is hesitating a bit sometimes like it's sucked some crap into the fuel system and it feels down on power slightly. Seems to come good at high revs. Is not overheating at all. I've had it three years and never run it right out of petrol. Low kms on the clock (not long clicked over 278,000). If it had a carby like the old ones I'd be confident to clean it out but never had anything to do with injection. All pertinent advice most welcome.
  5. When one of my cars shat the trans on boxing day many years ago the AA guy towed it to a suitable workshop and we just locked it up and left it there until they reopened after the holiday period. Is that an option in this instance?
  6. Does bending the number plate even count as damage? Or am I missing something?
  7. Should be able to get parts in Blenheim. Not too far away.

Bigger tank has to be a good option if it can be done.
  9. Yep. Even on two supposedly identical cars. The bit you want will be the one bit that is different.
  10. If the conversion is well done using OEM parts on factory bolt holes how would the average wof guy even notice?
  11. Seems a little bit silly to require cert if the whole thing uses OE parts that could have left the factory in an identical shell and mount on all factory provided bolt holes. Why is that?
  12. Must be a shitload of British stuff from back then with the same dizzy type. Can't be that hard finding a cap less fucked than the one you have. What sort is it?
  13. Rustoleum rattlecans and she'll be right mate. International Harvester red be good for a coon?
  14. Does the trailer work correctly on a different car?
  15. Anyone else remember the forward facing blue roof light when towing rule?
  16. When did high stop lights become compulsory as a retro-fit on old cars? I remember when they were first a thing in NZ in the early '80s all the talk was about how all new cars had to have them.
  17. Can't beat the look of a real unrestored survivor. Seen a few getting around here in the South. Examples that come to mind are a one owner '60 Fairlane 500 with 300,000 miles on the clock and it looked like it, and a '27 Dodge Brothers 4 that was sold new in Balclutha and lives in Milton so still localish and a bit rough so the old geezer just drives it dodgy. Good to see the progress you're making Alex. You're a wizard mate.
  18. Is there any real difference between HB Torana and HB Viva apart from the badges?
  19. After Christmas works better for me too. Might actually be able to make it to an OS event for the first time.
