  1. I read somewhere a few years back that you can just put some nylon rope down your spark plug holes to fill the cylinders and hold the valves up while you do the stem seals if you are going that route.
  2. It used to work fine, then just turned to shit. Should probably drain all the petrol out of the tank.
  3. How's that engine run? We have the exact same one on our shitty minibike and it runs like poo and carbons up the spark plug within 30 seconds. Any hints?
  4. The E on the ZXE makes it go faster according to my mum.
  5. Is the engine a vegemite factory?
  6. I'd get my brother to do the welding for any mounts and whatnot, he has his tickets and stuff. So basically, swap tailhousing on gearbox, drop motor and box in (do some wiring and plumbing) and put driveshaft hoop on? (Assuming running carbs)
  7. Will the double diff balance out the fact that the engines won't be in perfect sync?
  8. Where abouts in christchurch are you? I would be keen to come take a looksy on Sunday
  9. Have you tried a different temperature gauge?
  10. Just weld the top half of the bolt onto the new pressure plate. Insta-balance. [ThumbUp] I'm sure they will be able to get it out using some sort of ultrasonic machine or something.
  11. I pay $39 at VTNZ, student price FTW
  12. 4A-GE head looks over 9000x better. Therefore less polishing.
  13. What would be required to get a cert if I just dumped a 4AGE and K50 from 3A into my starlet?
  14. Will do. What is a leak free 4K worth these days? Doesn't use any oil or water between changes. (Oil checked and recorded each day before driving).
  15. That's not what your profile picture says.
  16. So I am beginning to think about planning the inevitable 4age swap into the starlet. I am thinking a 2nd generation bigport engine mounted to a 3A K-50 (is this a cable clutch box?) ith the KP tailhousing. Would this be pretty much just need different engine mounts made and driveshaft modifications? What sort of modifications would be required to the car to get a cert? I am not aiming for massive power and would like to be able to keep EFI if possible. I'm heading back up north in about 2 weeks and am going to look around to see if I can find some engine rebuilding places that would employ me over summer for my engineering practical work experience. Does anyone know of any such places around Pukekohe?
  17. Wait..... So all of the stuff Kirk says is actually true? Wow
  18. In metric: 5 mm ID vinyl tubing = 66 kPa/m 6 mm ID vinyl tubing = 19 kPa/m 5 mm ID Polyethylene tubing = 50 kPa/m 6 mm ID Polyethylene tubing = 11 kPa/m 9.5 mm OD Stainless tubing = 4.5 kPa/m 8 mm OD Stainless tubing = 11 kPa/m 6 mm OD Stainless tubing = 46 kPa/m (Heaps easier to imagine)
  19. I might give my wheels a polish, but yeah, trying to keep the car as factory as possible. My friends reckon I need knitting equipment on the parcel tray.
  20. Damn good point, although I am pretty sure I didn't follow some sort of accepted tag format.
  21. Got a new set of plates for it.
  22. Went to go buy a front bumper off a guy for my starlet and told the guy what time I would be there. I got there at the prescribed time but he wasn't around. So I knock on the door about 5 times and then take a close look at the bumper without even touching it and then his dad comes out of the house swearing and yelling at me and saying he will shoot me. I apologize for pissing him off and make straight for my car but he keeps going nuts at me. I get a text ten mins later from the guy selling me the bumper saying that he was late getting back and that he was sorry for his dad being like that. #nevergoingbacktowaiparaever
  23. It would, but last time I went to Waipara a guy threatened to kill me.
  24. I want more pictures of the KP
