  1. Nah battery isn't quite enough. You can hear your ignition through your AM radio. Bit of potting around at risk components is a legit idea, probably already done by Toyota though. We cut our crystal failure rate after ultrasonic welding by thirty just by potting them first Also, I'm not an electrical engineer so don't take everything I say for gospel
  2. Commodore V6 injectors are 210cc and have the same old rectangle bosch connector. Will need the end diameter turned down slightly in the lathe to fit with standard seals. NZ Efi used to supply them new and modify them for like $10, maybe they still do? They're high impedance so you would need to bypass the resistor box on your setup.
  3. I have full access to a state of the art electronics factory and could have a crack at making external pump control for you if you send one down.
  4. 5k would be better if you can find one. Would be more in line with original characteristics by being more oversquare. Hydraulic lifters also make for a better time, with k series they let you get away with a bit more aggressive cam without losing drivability
  5. I've used cliff bond and Kennelly cams in the past. Fast turnaround, good prices
  6. Just saw something on Extrude Honing AFM They squeeze a putty fully of silicone carbide particles through the runners to polish them For some reason it made me think of this project
  7. Toyota Techstream boils my blood. Just use something standard goddammit.
  8. What decade are those prices from? We were at repco yesterday, I asked the guy at the counter if he had a good party the night before. He just gave a slight nod
  9. My friend has a Toyota Aurion 3.5ltr V6, 575000 ks, and still has a beautiful clean exhaust pipe, no oil leaks and is still tight n sealed. He doesn't use any additives.
  10. I made this aluminium wallet for my brother for Christmas. It has a small internal pocket that can hold a couple of notes and it can take four cards easily, five if you push it. Wallet was all machined by hand, only the engraving was done with the CNC - it's our family crest. Box is made from a rimu floor board and has a nice felt covered insert and tinted glass cover.
  11. Licence testing officer stops the test as soon as you fail, why should the suspension inspection be any different if the law says it becomes clint's job at that point? Edit, after checking the VIRM I have to concede. Modifications are the last item on the check lists, therefore of lowest priority.
  12. To be fair, if the suspension is modified and needs a cert why should they even continue looking at the suspension and surrounding structure? The cert guy will have to do that anyway. No point having double redundancy
  13. A bit more expensive than that, $140+gst on aliexpress for 100x usb sticks https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004949380312.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3891517eiJln1r&algo_pvid=2ed90a51-7a1b-4522-9b1c-677a2ef2d8ec&algo_exp_id=2ed90a51-7a1b-4522-9b1c-677a2ef2d8ec-27&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"12000031123265212"}&pdp_npi=2%40dis!NZD!141.63!141.63!!!!!%40210318b916697752137334195ee55a!12000031123265212!sea&curPageLogUid=VNgsCgOzPEB3
  14. Did the tablet come with a S Pen? That should be able to draw on pdf file just fine Also, does lvvta have the ability to accept USB stick instead of CD? You can get the sticks for less than the price of a blank CD these days Would be nice if they just had a Dropbox account or something and you could just dump the files in
  15. Definitely want at least a little bit of taper on the mould, will make it a whole lot easier to get the casting out. These things have like a 1.5 deg taper and are used for making microscopy samples, really quite easy to get the casting out afterwards. https://shop.buehler.com/castable-mounting-molds https://shop.buehler.com/content/images/thumbs/0011139_samplkup-30mm-12-pcs.jpeg
  16. VR sensor at cam speed is fine, especially with that ~80mm diameter wheel. Toyota uses VR sensor in distributors with a 25mm diameter wheel. I think the one I made in my distributor is about 60mm and works great for getting sync while cranking.
  17. Just throw a 3.8 commodore v6 in and be done
  18. Super peaky fuel graph. Big cam timing table should be a good tool to play with though Here's my 0-3000 and 3000-6000 rpm fuel tables, basically a flat sheet of paper compared to yours
  19. Quite a lot of old toyotas only came with one bulb fitted from factory. Either that or every old Toyota I have bought has had a bulb removed at one point.
  20. They have USB C these days, if you can get a camera with a USB C cable you might be alright. Or get a camera with wifi
  21. Samsung with stylus is what we use at work for warehousing and QC, would be perfect for you.
  22. Never had a problem with the Starlet, run it right down to just about fumes a few times. I guess the tank is a bit more of a simple shape than some other cars. I think there may be some slight factory baffling in there too. Hilux on the other hand is a piece of shit when you get near the empty line on the guage.
  23. One time I was a real idiot and forgot to undo the bolts holding the sandwich plate/flyhweel cover on and had same symptoms
  24. Good result. I saw the thread title and thought "swap to LD28+T" Never late in an LD28 mayTe.
  25. What the hell did I just watch. Big milk sure had its hooks in everywhere.
