  1. swooon that is a barry mo bile sweet one if i do say myself
  2. soo with a saga of the parts ordeal going down. @chris r Turned up to pickup his fuel tank and pine over the Galaxie we figured we better start working on the car after a much needed cruise round the block and free included in the deal peelout. that started with getting a horn going so with the horn that i had purchased a couple of days earlier from @tortron some wiring and nut&bolt and cable ties later it was mounted between the radiator and grill without too much notice then the ol girl was screaming so with now having the galaxie in nz lets just say that the shed is somewhat a bit less walking area. with more old man moaning about someone taking up shed space. well sorry mate but this is only half of my fleet of cars but this is oldschool right where ol barry and his boys hoard shitty old cars.
  3. so as i noted early on that i had given scott some extra coin to get parts for the car. well that was like Christmas all over again. and at that stage i had made a few rockAuto orders for some of my other cars too along with @chris r putting a fuel tank in for his CRX. Had also chucked in a few items just for the ride home incase a break down. so i guess you were expecting a whole bigger load of parts other than this right? well all scott had purchased for the car in terms of parts was Cap N Rotor Ignition Leads Spark plugs Fuel filter. bit slack right was more bummed i never received any cherry bomb mufflers. so i sent a friendly message out to scott mentioning about the lack of parts purchased. well turns out a whole bunch of parts that were purchased for the car had been stolen out of it shortly after their being a monsoon blowing the cover off the car. And this being done while the car was still being stored in phoenix in a secure storage facility but due to the vehicle not being able to be locked anyone had access inside of the vehicle. which sucks as all of the parts were needed for the car but now need to be sourced within nz as i have hopes of it being wof'd and rego'd before the end of the year maybe not now. although camera footage has been seen of the parts being stolen from 200 meters away but that was three months ago. plus scott offered to pay for the parts and half the freight cost which is a bonus but dont think it would be worth while bothering getting the parts from the US when i include the exchange rate and import tax on the parts. but another rockauto order will need to be done for some bits as some items don't include a big freight bill to nz.
  4. pop on over there mayte spin some yarns
  5. also did a two second peeelout on the drive way when hard for what it is along with a cloud of smoke.
  6. made it home in great condition so i put the dog in the front with me and backed it out the drive way to turn it around then as i pull out clunk!! drive forward and look whos here fuel strap decided it did not want to be on no more although the car is abit long and low in the ass end which makes me have to go on a angle to get in the drive way. FT my mums not so great camera skills so the ol girl is running a 390 FE big block mayte with yet to confirm exactly what but i suspect running a cruise o matic trans.
  7. So with my trip to the USA in late 2016 me and a few others met up with their buddy scott. so after talking for abit and spending some time with him and inspecting a car i liked which had too much bog for my liking we both decided i would leave him some cash and when i found a car i liked that met my budget i would get him too inspect it. then many months went by searching craigslist couple times a week with no luck. then a mid 60s Chrysler newport popped up in my price range so had it inspected but ended up needing a full interior and had missing parts all over so that was a no GO few weeks later a 64 galaxie comes up slightly out of my price range but there was nothing else that i liked worth inspecting at that time. so a deal was done to purchase it. sent scott some extra coin to get some parts that it needed also along with getting some cherry bomb mufflers. about a month and half later it started its trip back home starting from phoenix AZ to LA about 4 months later it arrived into nz and being cleared by maf and customs Ready for collection As i go over to collect it from its secure yard the person informs me the paperwork says its a non runner what!? soo it has a flat battery well after swaping a charged battery into it it fires into life meanwhile while i move my car out of their yard and the shipping company (Non reflective) employee moves the galaxie out of the storage lot he starts to crunch a few gears then almost hits the wall a few times trying to park it. By then i was ready to throw him out of the car. then he asks the question on how im going to take it away? well im driving it mate And too much surprise he replies in shock it has no brakeees. oh yeah algood mate guessing he just has no clue about cars. so i hop in and brake pedal goes straight to the floor this is going to be interesting so i crawl up the road a few kilometers by changing from neutral to drive and trying to use the useless handbrake when needed soo a right turn comes up that i need to take ah not going to make that stop so i keep rolling in the median strip to the next street on my right. the next T intersection i roll through slowly followed by another right turn I have now arrived at my old mans workplace to check the brakes out so i can drive it home So i top up the empty brake reservoir and bleed the front brakes and we are good to go! so i cruised on home
  8. keep the teal colour and go for the patina look plus sell the 305 for max $$ and put a LS in just my 2c

  10. Hey guys ive had a chat with the guy at Alpine panelbeaters in avondale who currently run metal shaping courses in the weekend. there is a few members on here who have done the course and been happy with the results. and ive been interested in the course myself and figured a few others would be too when speaking to him he only had one spot left in the next course. so he said he would do another one if i got a group of 4 together so now im in need of ONE more person to do the course Details are you will learn basic hand metal forming skills using hammer and dollys and sandbags metal stretching and shrinking creating 90 degree bends with curves etc The one day course will be held in october on a saturday or sunday either the 7th or 8th or 14th or 15th. and price is 390 incl gst for the day. none of that money goes into my pocket too Pm me if keen so i can get the ball rolling and get it all locked in. Cheers Dylan
  11. The pin appears that is has flared ends on both sides i guess? also is the wear caused by wear in the keyway on the shaft or wear in the pin? if pin you could possibly by using a dot punch flare the ends a tad more to take up the play if you cant remove the pin. otherwise could drill it out if your keen enough
  12. I have a pair of 13inch equips that at a guess would be 6inch wide there is a pic of them on my starlet build thread take a look and send me a pm could work somethink out
  13. so with all the fun of cutting and welding in patches i also received some more goodies for this toyota te71 T series disc brake rear end with the sad thing it only be a open diff so will have to sort a Lsd unit for this once its been shorten and fitted in the car A a pair of gimore pulleys to pull me in some school girls but with the purchase of these items i would like to thank mighty Joe for being a total GC and collecting these for me storing them then mounting them on a pallet and sending them to dorkland for me A pair of work equip 01's in 13inch scored these off a mate who had got them out of the inorganic collection many years ago. and have since given them a 10 hour job clean up they now both look like the top one. nothing flash but not too over the top. also still on the hunt for a standard kp steering wheel only wanting it to cut the spline off it so would like a rough condition one.
  14. And with the other 2 doors being sent off to be sand blasted i thought i would do some of the body patches so i started with the one around the fuel flap area but before i could start grinding and welding i thought i would be safe and remove the fuel tank as was abit close but gave me a chance to give that a cleanup also and lick of paint so i cut the old rusty crap out then gave the inside a sandblast then applied some rust converter before welding this patch in one down another million to go
  15. long time since an update but i have been making progress making and welding in patches been doing this door which had to be made in multiple pieces for it to work in my head so i cut multiple holes in this area and ended up with this so i added a patch here and this one and started making the main patch which this piece here was made from 5 different pieces all welded together but before it was placed into the door is was coated with some crc zinc it paint on the underside then welded in too look like this this is now 2 of the 4 doors done for their patch work
  16. You couldn't leave the poor mirage driver alone could you
  17. A mx5 and Subaru one most likely won't have a big enough core as only running a small 4 cylinder plus both are all alloy engine which displaces the heat quicker. https://www.trademe.co.nz/1369952269 ^^ that's a hq Holden one but a v8 radiator size is a bit bigger overall but might fit as a Holden 202 is also a 3.3litre so a 6cylinder rad might fit. @chrisR might let you test fit his 1 tonner rad if you think it might work.
  18. Perhaps a holden 202 radiator or triumph tc might would in that car same sort of engine size etc alloy radiators are not the best for cast iron engines as it causes electrolysis as two different metals but is fine if you plan on servicing your cooling system more regularly but I'm sure you already knew that
  19. If going v8 in this thing my idea would be to LS conversion it can get the kits from the U.S. plus turn key driver fuel efficient low maintenance And more power. Also don't you work with Tom at holden? so could end up with a good deal on a motor too

  21. with the inboard brake setup i know that on jags that the whole rear subframe needs to be removed. but you just cut a hole in the floorboard and the job is 10x quicker this could be a very good idea on the rover
