  4. I ran Rubber Mounts in my streetstock many moons ago...lasted 2 meetings before I hit the wall and the mounts basically sheared apart- so in when the box section mounts and the engine never moved. Probably the only reason to solid mount your engine.....if you want to hit walls

  8. That is similar to one we have in our old Isuzu Jap spec prision/school bus. It is a intercom/loudspeaker for internal shouting at noisy children

  10. I just did my Vauxhall. Hardest part was making up the brackets and lining up the pulleys. I used a bosch out of a polo. Basically only 3 wires out (2 power and 1 for alt light) I used this tut for guidance. http://www.mgccars.com/gen-to-alt-conversion.html

My 63 vauxhall only had front seatbelts fitted, no extra brakelight....its pretty much stock standard Exceptions for older vehiclesIf your vehicle was manufactured before 1990 it may be excluded from many of the standards requirements. However, your vehicle must still meet the general safety requirements in the Land Transport Rules, and it must have at least front seat passenger safety belts if manufactured after 1955. An 'historic vehicle' must meet the safety requirements applying at the time it was manufactured. Visit theVintage Car Club of New Zealand's website to find out more. Exceptions for left-hand drives and temporary importsAs we drive on the left side of the road in New Zealand, vehicles have to be right-hand drive. In most cases, if you bring a left-hand drive vehicle here, you'll need to have it converted. You may be able to get an exemption for a light vehicle that is for your own use. See the requirements. But you may not need to meet these standards if you're temporarily importing your vehicle, usually for less than 12 months. Exceptions for vehicles not meeting all required standardsWhere your vehicle meets some but not all the standards, you may be able to apply for an exemption. Please be aware, there is no guarantee this will be granted. We judge exemption applications on a case-by-case basis against restrictive criteria set in legislation (section 166 of the Land Transport Act 1998).
  13. Thanks for the input guys. I would be keen th organise and run one in kapiti which could be a good inbetween spot between welly and palmy. Could be used for a end of year bash'/xmas type deal but wouldn't want to step on peoples toes by overriding someone elses event.

When i was a wee tacker (Just after cars came in any color as long as it was black) I used to go with my Aunty and cuzzies to the Hawkes Bay Car Club where we would compete in a fun trials/orienteering (not sure what it is actually called so I have named it thus so) event where all the cars would be given a set of directions to follow then sent on there merry way ( In a timed, staggered start) and decipher the clues along the way. These directions could send you to a group of shops which is where you had to figure out the price of a book in a window to gain Negitive time points ( If you couldnt solve it then time penalty was added on) Then you would carry on to the next "checkpoint" where something else had to be spotted/found. It was an awesome fun day for the family and used to go for about an hour and half of driving around Napier searching for clues and getting lost and bickering and laughing and then afterwards there would be tea and scones back at the clubrooms where we would jeer the winners (unless it was us that won) and congratulate the silly answers that were put down sometimes. I don't know if anything like this has been done round here as an event or part of one. I'm just thinking after our meet at Otaki that this could be a good way of people getting out in their cars and cruising with a purpose and enjoying themselves. You could start something like this at 10am on a Sunday Morning, then have a BBQ on the Beach at 12 (not Otaki beach tho ewww) with a few quiet ones with maybe a few 2nd hand prizes and choccy fish for the winners and losers...... What does everyone think?

  16. Yep The guy I bought my PB off last week got it re-vinned and reg'd with the original plates. Just sent a letter off to LTSA with proof of ownership and photos of plates on car (to prove they in good nick) then VTNZ http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/factsheets/71/registration-plates.html Re-issuing black and silver ordinary platesIn certain circumstances the NZTA will allow the re-issue of a vehicle's older style black and silver plates. The following conditions apply. The number on the plates must be still available. Sometimes people use a number from the old black plates and put it on a personalised plate – in such cases the old plates cannot be re-used as the number has been 'taken'. The plates must be in good condition. The plates must be the last plates that were issued to the vehicle when the registration was cancelled and the owner may be required to show evidence of this. The best evidence is the certificate of registration or other paperwork (insurance policy, repair receipts showing the registration number, etc). This rule only applies to those who are re-registering their vehicle. For example, if a vehicle is currently registered with plates but previously had black and silver plates, these cannot be re-issued. Any person who is re-registering their vehicle and wishes to have their black and silver plates re-issued can write to the NZTA at: Transport Registry Centre Attention: Team Leader Business Administration Private Bag 11777 Palmerston North 4442 If approved, the NZTA will send a letter which includes a reference number that must be provided to the agent processing your registration application when re-registering the vehicle. This number confirms that the plates may remain affixed to the vehicle and that new plates are not required.

  19. Thanks guys..The mesh visors seem a little small for the Velox as mine is 1400mm at the top from gutter to gutter and not keen on the solid one... Unfortunately my line of work (Bus Driver on the lovely kapiti coast) means I do a lot of shift work so the weekday meets are a bit hard to make but look forward to cruising on the weekends if anything is happening.

The History of My PB 07/11/1963 - 1st registered to Wanganui Rangitiki Electric Power Board 129 miles on Speedo. 04/03/1965 - Sold to Western Motors 24297 miles on Speedo 28/04/1965 - Sold to a Private Buyer 25700 miles 18/03/1975 -Transferred to a private buyer (Same surname and address as previous) 73,682 miles 30/03/1994 - Sold to Private buyer in New Plymouth . No mileage recorded but the next WOF in 1995 shows 92,652 (to my knowledge this is the owner that recond the engine and did all the resto.) 05/06/2007 - Sold to Private buyer 1526 miles now it gets a bit murky..(until I get my ownership papers) This buyer sold it to an elderly Levin gentleman who used it until he passed on where it got stored in a shed for his Granddaughter. The custodians never updated the rego so it lapsed in 06/2011. Given that the last WOF was March 2009 I'd guess that was when ownership was changed. The family decided to sell back to previous owner and he, after looking at all his other projects, decided to sell. So the car was put on Trademe, and this is where I came in, saw the car...Loved it, and hit BUY NOW there and then. The owner then got it Re-Vinned (WITH THE OLD PLATES) reg'd and WOF'd And ... 23/05/2013 - Sold to Fourfingapete 5096 miles 1963 PB Vauxhall Velox 2651cc Engine recon at a guess 15.000 miles ago. Engine number changed at this time. 3 Speed Manual Column Change Full respray in 1995 (including rust treatment) Color: British Racing Green - not sure if it was the original color but the ownership papers do say the car is green. Mods that I know of Freeflow exhaust into twin pipes Heavy duty rear springs with 50mm lowering blocks and Munroe Gas Shocks These Photos are from the previous owner so are a bit dated so the car isn't as tidy as this now but not too far off My Baby home in its new garage....... Now I have generally been a Holden fan thru my life, I have owned a 71 LJ Torana, 73 HQ 308, HZ, VK and VB commodores along with a Mk3 Cortina, Mk1 Capri, XT and XA Falcon, 52 Morry, as well as the family cars, Datsun 180b and 200b and have been stuck with a 1997 Mitsi Carisma (poor mans lancer) for the last 5 years as all my dream cars are way outta reach on my budget (which is pretty much close to non-exsistant). You could say that the PB is a poor mans Holden...well it's not Its a poor mans Vauxhall! I don't intend to do too much to this classic. But things I hope to achieve this year...... Build a Stereo console for the gearbox tunnel so I don't ruin the classic Dash Convert it to a NEGATIVE EARTH (so I don't burn it to the ground when I forget it's a + earth) Get the Front Bench seat upholstery fixed (large rip in drivers position) Get some nice Chrome spotlights and Headlight peaks Find a MESH VISOR (any help appreciated) fit an Alarm (and maybe central locking) Lower the front by an inch Slowly work my way thru the panels and repair the few bubbles, dents and scratches in the paint job Long Term.... Nice mags or widened rims (crager smoothies would look good) with whitewall tyres New moulded Carpet (Has home job in it atm) New Paint (with maybe a white roof or subtle pinstriping to break the one color thing) re-chrome all door handles light surrounds etc.. and FIND a COMPATIBLE power steering unit lol......Forgot how hard it wasto actually DRIVE a car.
